  1. New Era (4:33)
  2. New Era (VIP mix) (4:34)
Review: The start of what many fans are hoping will eventually be an album later this year, Andy C let rip into 2016 with a brand new jump-up party track that smacks of "Twist 'Em Out" era jump up mischief (before things got a little too silly on that side of the genre). Now finally enjoying a vinyl outing, its ballsy sub matches the spiky riff with a dynamic that was seemingly written with wax in mind. The VIP is an interesting approach too; rather than being wilder than the original, it's actually deeper and more heads-down. Classic Andy C subversion... Let's hope it does build to an album.

  1. Now The Future (4:28)
  2. Drop It Human (5:07)
Review: Now The Future sees the return of Ram's heavily tatted neuro-monster Audio, offering up his first 12" salvo of 2016 for the drum and bass juggernaut and boy does it pack a punch! The sinister tones of the title track take you into the mind of Audio's twisted vision of the future, percussive elements ticking away under petrifying atmospheres, building up into an unstoppable bassline offensive. Complementing this, is the spine chilling "Drop It Human", a track that thrusts into a sonic array of growling mids and low end sub grit, delivering a devastating blow. Audio's precise, sharp, stepped trademark drum sound forms the backbone, marching the track through to inhuman perfection.

Review: They don't call him a beast for nothing... Audio is one of the sharpest, most uncompromising engineers in D&B and has been since his Resonant Evil days. Ram's ace of spades, signing to the biggest label in D&B hasn't stopped him from pushing neuro and tech to its bitter, broken glass edge (and, often, beyond) As proved by his fifth album Beastmode. From the broken-brake speedway challenge hurtling dangerously out of control ("Creatures") to the absolute hell-raising detuned stabs and turbo engine reeses of "Thunder Ridge", this is Audio at his hardest, sharpest and furthest ahead of the curve.

  1. Overdose (5:55)
  2. Ultron (Mefjus remix) (4:49)
Review: Busta Rhymes has Flipmode, but Audio has Beastmode! After a slew of heavyweight albums on Virus, Audio is returning to the format with Beastmode forthcoming on the mighty RAM with this 12" sampler the first of many tasters. "Overdose" sets a high marker for the album, finding Audio returning with a brutish, rolling bassline, diced up with gritty drum loops and underpinned by quaking subs. Face down and Audio's signature RAM cut "Ultron" is given the Mefjus treatment, resulting in the sort of techy soundscape the Austrian producer reigns over. Mefjus moulds the original around the unfaltering guns of his peddled drums and wavering bassline.

Review: The first installment of the Ramlife series, impeccably mixed by Loadstar, was arguably one of the strongest drum and bass sets of 2014. It's perhaps for this reason that Ram has entrusted the follow-up to the more than capable Audio, himself a relatively recent signing to the imprint. Happily, he doesn't disappoint, mixing a selection that tends towards the dark, aggressive and pounding, with clandestine textures and rumbling basslines rubbing shoulders with snappy jungle breaks and tech-tinged electronics. Audio wisely includes a handful of unreleased "VIP" mixes alongside bangers from a veritable who's who of darkroom drum and bass talent, including Break, Ed Rush & Optical, Bad Company UK and Black Sun Empire. It's an action-packed, 29-track journey that genuinely takes no prisoners.

Review: More premium D&B goodness from the decorated duo Calyx & TeeBee; "Where We Go" features the instantly charming vocals of Doctor (the name behind the vocals on Flux Pavilion's summer banger "International Anthem") and drops into a bassline so elastic it should come with safety goggles. Flip for the darker, uncompromised sounds of "Ghostwriter" where the duo throw two tonnes of broken glass into their bass mix for a firmer, arresting low end sensation... And a very cheeky old school breakdown. There's a reason these guys are so respected.

Review: Building up anticipation for their third album 1x1 with every release, Calyx & Teebee sign off from 2015 with their fourth EP. "Cloud 9" counters their trademark punch bag bass and hook science with an interesting vocal from Larry Calyx himself that really makes itself known on the breakdown. Those hungry for an Anatomy flexback should jump straight on the B. White knuckle business: It's not called "Panic Attack" for no reason.

  6. False Alarm (4:33)
Review: While Calyx & Teebee have been working together since 1004, 1x1 is their first collaborative full-length excursion for four years. Typically, it hits hard from the start, with the bombastic neuro-funk smasher "Nothing Left" setting the tone. There are plenty more big room bangers, of course, including the ragga-jungle revivalism of "False Alarm", and bowel-bothering heaviness of "Ghetto (feat Doctor)". It's not all straight-up dancefloor filth, though; check, for example, the Police-sampling vocal shuffler "Long Gone", the trap-step wobble of "Cloud 9", and the Hospital style, radio-friendly, festival drum and bass of "Takes One To Know One".

With upwards of a year passing between dispatches (and epic five-year hype times between ID clips of Ram boss Andy C playing them and them actually being finished and released) fans have learned to make hay while the sun shines. Like now... Originally released digitally in December, these four tracks are finally available on vinyl and every one of them is a thriller: from the Detroitian textures of the synths on "Tangents" to the all-out bull charge of "Steam Machine" and the vocal beauty of "No More", Shocky's sun is shining brightly right now. Review: Andy C's mega-label Ram celebrates the big 200 in style: triple vinyl in trifold sleeve with etched sixth side, each of the five cuts represent Ram's dark, start extremes. The touching depths of Culture Shock's long-awaited "Piano Dark", the Noisia-level antics of Audio on his June Miller, InsideInfo's deep throat bass on "The Truth" and the add bass fluctuations on Rene's VIP. 200 singles deep and still killing it, Ram have put together a serious package here.

Review: Ram champs Delta Heavy are deep into their debut album. And if this type of spread is what we can expect from it, we're in for a treat; "Ghost" is the lead track. All radio-ready and heavy on the vocals, it's in the same league as La Roux's "In For The Kill" (albeit at a different tempo). After something much darker and gnarly? Flip for "Tremors". The clue in the title; it's the duo at their hardest and heaviest. Two sides, two stories, two more reasons to keep Delta Heavy locked on the radar.

Review: Some six years after delivering their first single, EDM-jungle fusionists Delta Heavy has finally got round to recording a debut album. As you might expect, Paradise Lost is a bombastic and in-your-face affair, with the London-based duo fusing blistering breakbeats, punishing basslines, mind-altering electronic stabs and razor-sharp synth lines in an endless quest for dancefloor perfection. Unsurprisingly, there are plenty of potential anthems amongst the 14 tracks, from the grandiose vocal cut "City Of Dreams", and R&B-dubstep fusion "White Flag", to the mind-bending late night wobble of "Pathways", and the frankly filthy, hard-to-pin-down "Oscillator".

Review: Delta Heaviness: this debut album has been on the cards since the UK duo signed to Ram in 2010 and they've not disappointed. Four of the 14 tracks, pressed to double 12", it's a sizzling synapse-snapping screenshot of where Ben and Si are at: feather-ruffling electrified bass, spatterings of rifle guitar blasts and beats so strong they could melt concrete. Climaxing with the hands-in-the-air vocal slap-down "City Of Dreams", each of these four cuts are primed for the peakest of peak hours. Delta Heaven.

Review: Taken from their long-awaited debut album Paradise Lost, Ram roustabouts Delta Heavy deliver two distinct party bombs: "Oscillator" is a guttural growler with a staccato riff and tumbling tripletty drums and a second drop that shreds all the way up from Hades itself. "Fun House" shows the duo's more mischievous side as a post-jump-up riff licks with an atonal forked tongue over titanium beats. Immense.

Review: Following his "All Four One" EP at the start of the year, Frankee returns with two more startling shock-outs. "Downtown" shows the Londoner at his softest, most emotional side as Simon Franks delivers a vocodered vocal over an almost trance-like dynamic. Floaty, evocative and rolling, its lighter-raising power is up there with the best work of Sub Focus and Culture Shock. Flip for "Power", a bassline damager with a toxic hook that's reminiscent of Mampi or Dillinja. Benchmark business.

Review: Bart van Dijk and Mark McCann have clearly learnt a thing or two since they first joined forces under the June Miller alias in 2007. There's a confident swagger about their long-promised debut album, Robots & Romans. They're at a point in their career when they can do whatever they like and, for the most part, pull it off. This freedom allows them to flit effortlessly between different D&B strands, from the punishing, tech-tinged madness of the opening exchanges, to the soulful bagginess of "We Are Not Human", via the wobble-step insanity of "Saus" and the electro-influenced Virus Synidcate hook-up "Stormtrooper". There's even some impeccable liquid deepness in the shape of "Further Seems Forever".

"Rock 'N' Roll" has one of the best intros Ram have released in a while before dropping into a sweaty, moshy, air-guitar-snapping halftime groove. "Wildlife", meanwhile, is a sharp, steppy jump-up jam with staccato bass and a powerfully funky breakdown with big percussion and cinematic horns. A near-perfect example of collaboration science.

Review: One of neuro's premier league producers Misanthrop makes his Ram debut with this face-melting four-tracker. Heavily politicised (the news is to blame for his angry sounds on all accounts), the German forecasts the gradual decline of humanity with rowdy distorted triplets on "Collapse". "Fragment" continues the spiral into Gomorrahic decay with the same sliding growl tone that's often used by Misanthrop and Phace's Neosignal project while "Rotor" reverses the technique so the tones spiral upwards to uplifting effect. Finally "Attack" closes the show with Misanthrop's grittiest slammer of the bunch. Who knew society's malfunctions would sound so good?

Here are four examples why: "Hyperspeed" is a straight-up turbo-charge neuro roller with more basslines than you've got trousers, "Quasar" is all about the heavy metal guitar riff, "Space Junk" is all about classic breaks and speaker-ripping reese bass while "Hawking Radiation" closes the show with the most twisted designs of the EP: all jittering drums and paranoid bass worms wriggle and writhe in such a way you may feel sea sick... In the best possible way, of course.

As proved by these four highlights taken from his debut album Lazers Not Included. Ranging from the out-and-out roughage of the jungle homage "Redemption" to the precision wonk stamps and gritty glitches of "Like It Hard" via the synth-slamming, lazer-reaching riff monster "Casino" and the rushy, ravier "Sleepless", this is Wilkinson at his hardest, heaviest and most dancefloor focussed. As with previous Wilkinson heaters, this has potential to soundtrack the summer for many.
