Review: Eclectic Belgian label Meakusma serve up more strange delights that they're fast becoming known for. Georgia are Brian Close and Justin Tripp who work out of their studio in Chinatown, NYC. They released the album Like Comments earlier this year and Like Comment Comments, naturally, is the remix-driven accompaniment. There are some truly inventive takes featured here by a stellar cast. DFA's Bryce Hackford serves up a nice deep house revision of "Nu Way Heat", NYC's RVNG INT'L deliver a harsh and hard hitting digi dub chugger on the remix of "Abstrackt High" plus two new tracks by Georgia themselves. "Bridge 1" and "Bridge 2" continue on with their oddball cinematic vibes as heard on the album and perfect for those chill out moments.

Review: Former Evangelista member Dominic Cramp first made waves as Lord Tang with 2012's Hello, an eccentric but inspired debut album of quirky electronica on Gigante Sound. Butterflies is his first album since, following a couple of dub influenced 12" singles, and contains 12 more hard-to-pigeonhole explorations. Occasionally dreamy, sometimes sparse, and often odd, Cramp's tracks draw influence from many styles and artists - experimental electronica, drone, dub, Autechre, the Radiophonic Workshop, grime, Chris Watson style field recordings and deep space ambient - but always sound distinctive. This spacey, weird and trippy sound soup more often than not results in thrilling music, making Butterflies an exciting proposition.

Experimental/Electronic
  1. Contagion
  2. Statical
  3. Statical (Porter Ricks Chagne Of Tide remix)
Review: Boof! Belgium's Meakusma finally return with their fifteenth release and it's by none other than Ryo Murakami, co-founder of the lovely Ranrecords label and an artist who has featured on everything from Dessous to Germany's Poker Flat. "Contagion" is on a classic Meakusma tip, where bleak, echoing sonics meet intricate percussion and low-swung low-ends, while "Statical" is an utterly swamped lo-fi jam for the pensive state of mind. Over on the B-side, legend Porter Ricks delivers a trademark dub-techno reinterpretation filled with cavernous swells of delay and that inimitable old-school Berlin flex. It's like hearing a new Chain Reaction, and that's pretty serious stuff in our books. A must have!
