  2. Behold Two (17:01)
Review: Following on from their collaborative album Indeed which dropped in 2011, Oren Ambarchi and Jim O'Rourke join forces once more to deliver the two-track epic Behold for Editions Mego. Fans of this pairing will know what to expect, as daring soundscapes fill with a multitude of sound sources carefully processed into a simmering whole, stretched out over long form running times for the ultimate immersive experience. "Behold One" revels in suspended animation as its textures very gently rise and fall, while "Behold Two" takes a more lively route towards a clanging, droning crescendo driven by organic and electronic matter.

Review: Operating out of Vienna, Christina Nemec has many strings to her bow at presents, including membership in recent Blackest Ever Black signings Shampoo Boy and roots in obscure Austrian industrial band Bray. Such associations all make perfect sense when listening to her new album as Chra, which has emerged in Editions Mego. Empty Airports is a fittingly desolate place where submerged rhythmic pulses and distant static flirt with occasional whispers of melody but largely echo out into a vast and very palpable nothingness. It's no mean feat to conjure up such spaces with sound, and Nemec does a wonderful job of it on this release.

Review: Since he first started appearing alongside the likes of Oren Ambarchi on the mighty Editions Mego label, Robin Fox has been a cornerstone of the American noise and industrial sound. He's back this month with a new solo release, A Small Prometheus, which sits somewhere between an EP and an LP. The opener "3Phase" contains a distant 4/4 bass drum in its underbelly, but the track is carried and swayed by modular bleeps, and sporadic slices of distortion; "A Pound Of Flesh" goes into total abstraction thanks to its gritty drones, while "A Small Promotheus" feels like more of a field recording. We enter a hint of techno again on "Dark Rain", while "Antlers" scratches and moans, and "Through Sky" slithers and slips into oblivion. Heavy, intense, but masterfully executed.

Review: Graham Lewis and Andreas Karperyd are no strangers to electronic music; in fact, the duo are actually kind of big shots. The former was part of Wire and Dome - yes, we told you - and the latter was a member of Woodwork, but their Hox project isn't new. Their one and only release under the name came back in 1999 on Origin, and it has been a digger's favourite ever since. Duke Of York has no genre or single influences, it's simply a record filled with sublime electronic sounds, and it's one that takes all the best parts of rave culture from the depths of time. Well, one could almost categorise it as a pop record, simply because although its tunes are sparse and abstract, they still manage to hold some sense of structure. Moreover, you'll be humming their chords in no time. Another winner from the Editions Mego camp.

Review: Editions Mego aren't only good at releasing classics, but they're actually equally as amazing at scouting new, raw talent. The American artiste, Klara Lewis, steps into the limelight with ten audaciously diverse electronic sculptures. Samples and field recordings get moulded and chopped-up and create rhythmic patterns which could almost be danced to. For instance, the opener "CATT" is a rough and improvisational patchwork of organic noises and atmospherics gathered from diverse settings and fused herein to create a stunning hook. The same goes for the rest of the tracks and to be honest, Lewis is actually doing something interesting with field recordings - we can't wait to hear her sound progress into an even more convoluted sonic shuffle! Tip!

Review: Mark Van Hoen's legacy as Locust just can't be argued with, from the early days on Apollo through significant albums for Touch and more recently Editions Mego, and it's the latter that he returns to for this latest offering. It's the kind of romantic electronica that revels in melancholy and places composition in front of sound design. The piano that leads the way on "Shadows Cast By Planes" is testament to that, while the vibes and flute-like sounds that take centre stage in "Colonnades" too remain clean and controlled. If the cinematic bombast of Vangelis shot through with a British bitterness sounds appealing then After The Rain has much to offer.

Review: There are a few constants in life; Rain in Manchester, the brilliance of Lionel Messi, halloumi, and the fact Texan Craig Clouse will almost always be working on new material. With no less than 14 full LPs in their discography, Clouse's Shit & Shine project operate in their own field, furiously disseminating material through whatever label is close by. The latest willing recipients are Editions Mego, buoyed by their ongoing anniversary celebrations, and no doubt pleased to issue one of Clouse's finest works as Shit & Shine. Not only does Everybody's A Fuckin Expert win LP title of the year, the 12 track set confidently moulds Clouse's hedonistic urges into a cohesive yet wonderfully chaotic whole. (No dogs were harmed in the conception of the album art)

Review: Former Coil man Timothy Lewis' work under the Thighpaulsandra alias has always been hard to pigeonhole, variously touching on abstraction, experimental electronics, modern classical, experimental jazz, space rock and industrial, usually wrapped in deliberately provocative themes or artwork. The Golden Communion, his latest full-length missive under the pseudonym, touches on all of these styles, joining them together into a two-hour journey that more than one critic has called a "psycho-musical" narrative. Peculiarly, there are moments of genuinely beguiling sweetness - see the baggy, beatless indie-pop of "Valerie" and "A Devil In Every Hedgerow" - amongst the worthy and next-level experiments. Generally, though, it's when he lets himself go - as on the 20-minute title track's wayward ambience - that Golden Communion really soars.

Review: Recorded last year at Rome's contemporary art museum, MAXXI is as graceful and noble as the environment in which it was created. "Intro" sets the tone for this work with its understated pulses and chilling synths. This leads into the deeper, more textured depths of "Sonia Danza" and the aptly named "Dreamscape Generation", which features warbling streams and rivulets of sound, squelches and chatter, like a moist riverbank on a spring morning. "Orange Steps" and "Scintille" are serene and more reflective, after this veritable flurry of musical activity. The release finishes with "Max", a cover of a piece by Italian composer Paolo Conte, but its chimes and layered textures are unmistakably Neel and Dozzy's.
