  2. Plates (Blocks & Escher remix) (5:46)
  3. Almost U (Mako Faithful remix) (4:50)
Review: Remix alert: Dispatch return to Gerra & Stone's well-marked "Unbreakable" EP with a clutch of remixes from some of D&B's most respected names. First up Zero T adds a little more pace and uplift to the naked soul depths of "Unbreakable", Blocks & Escher take the jungle frenzy of "Plates" and add a tunnelling dark room drum thump and bring our attention to different elements of the original in their own pace, Mako pays very close attention to the lucid liquid of the original "Almost U" while adding a little more muscle to the bassline and flex to the instrumentation. Exemplary remixes to the very core.

Chrysalis EP (white vinyl 12")
Cat: DIS 102. Rel: 15 May 17
Drum And Bass
  1. Chrysalis (6:05)
  2. F-Word (5:23)
  3. Paper Thin (feat DBR UK) (5:43)
  4. Lost Souls (feat Cern) (5:47)
Review: As the heat from his Negative Space album continues to scorch the leftfield drum & bass hinterland, Seattle's Homemade Weapons makes his debut on Dispatch. He's rolling deep as MC Fokuz takes on the studio in the same way his controls a crowd, applying UK consciousness, paranoia and barbed charm across each of the four cuts. Flexing from the minimal Lynx & Sense-style ice of "Chrysalis" to the savage tech stepper with DBR "Paper Thin" by way of the necksnap jungle fire of "Lost Souls" with Cern none of the parties involved here hold back. This is special.

Cat: DIS 108. Rel: 17 Jul 17
Drum And Bass
  1. Hybris & DLR - "Every Day Is A New Tomorrow" (5:18)
  2. DLR - "Panoramic View" (6:05)
  3. Hybris - "Lately" (4:58)
Review: What type of collabo-devilry is this? DLR and Hybris are two of the most respected technicians, mix engineers and sound designers of our time. Combining science with funk on every release as individuals, it's no surprise their collaboration EP is no exception... "Every Day Is A New Tomorrow" comes on strong with a creepy classic molten steel tech groove that spaces out like an acid casualty on the breakdown before necksnapping you into oblivion. Elsewhere both parties provide solo heat in the form of the fast-lane racer "Panoramic View" and the hurricane stepper "Lately". Fierce enough to make the devil blush.

  1. The Mercenary (with Andy Skopes) (5:13)
  2. A Break From Suspension (5:16)
Review: TC1's Dispatch Recordings label kicks off its second century of releases by welcoming back Mako, who last starred on the imprint back in 2014. During the three years he's been away, the experienced producer has showcased his wares on Metalheadz, Symmetry, and Warm Communications, amongst other labels. The two tracks here are typically weighty, with Mako's brilliant percussion programming and weighty basslines coming to the fore. We're particularly enjoying the A-side collaboration with Andy Skopes, "The Mercenary", which successfully builds into a rip-roaring dancefloor smasher following a deep and atmospheric start.

Cat: DIS 096. Rel: 29 Feb 16
Drum And Bass
  1. DLR & Nymfo - "Affliction" (6:39)
  2. Nymfo & Total Science - "Forward Motion" (4:54)
  3. Nymfo - "Marching Machines" (4:08)
Review: It's been almost two years since we last saw a Dispatch disc from Dutch damager Nymfo. In that time he's hammered hard across Metalheadz, Commercial Suicide, Fokuz and Renegade Hardware with his trademark twistedness keeping us on our toes from release to release. And our toes aren't set to rest any time soon... "Marching Machines" lives up to its name with a deep droning bass and a really cool Nicholson sample. It's backed by two major collaborations: with DLR he goes all heads-down, gritty and mildly tribal on "Affliction" while with Total Science he goes all bouncy and funky with "Forward Motion".

  2. Duvel (5:47)
  3. Beautiful Suicide (feat Sense) (4:57)
  4. Bulldog (5:14)
Review: Netherlands meets Belgium: Nymfo & Phase crash into each head-on with insanely beautiful results. If the swooning synths on the breakdown of "Bristol Bombay" don't turn you into a massive goosebump then you need your senses rewired. Likewise, "Duvel" guarantees wasp-chewing bass faces of the ugliest order with its pranged out mentasms, "Beautiful Suicide" hammers with such weight and pressure it could crush tungsten and "Bulldog" wraps up the session with a heads-down fuzzy groove that's restrained-yet-raw in classic Dispatch style.

  1. Your Love (Scar mix) (4:53)
  2. Philth & Wreckless - "The Circle" (5:53)
  3. Your Love (2016 re-master) (5:59)
Review: Over two years have passed since Philth made his Dispatch debut with "Your Love". In that time he's torn new ones on a whole gamut of labels to develop a reputation as one of the UK's most reliable underground operators. Here we find him returning to Ant TC1's imprint with a fresh Wreckless collaboration: "The Circle" is a distortion-laden groaner that's anchored by a punctuated two-step and a wafts of ghostly sound design. Elsewhere the evangelistic tones and textures of "Your Love" enjoy a cheeky modern remaster and a subverted, barbed twist from the currently unstoppable SCAR.

  5. Tibetan Funk (4:06)
  6. Fragments (feat Hybris & Skulpture) (5:45)
Review: The hype's been building. The beef's been cooking. This is one of Xtrah's most talked about EPs so far. Naturally the music speaks for itself... From the elastic purring drones and jazzy subtleties of opening track "The Embarkment" through the final militant dischordant stutters and pneumatic flickers of the final track "Fragments" this is a lesson in rolling, understated, uncompromised underground drum & bass. The tribal groans and cymbal splashes of "Disturbance", the skitty energy of "Tibetan Funk", the electrified sizzling bassline of "Babylon Shall Fall"... It's all about precision produced dark funk. Spacious and to the point.

Drum And Bass
  1. Cross It (feat Fierce) (5:11)
  2. Late Night Movies (4:53)
  3. Clondike (feat Beta 2) (4:51)
Review: Three cuts taken from Zero T's long-long-long awaited second album, each one is a kindly reminder as to why he's not lost his stripes during the last few years of relative silence: "Cross It" is an exercise in restraint as muscular drums drive the sparse elements with rolling sense of momentum. "Late Night Movies" switches for something much more soulful and delicate as swooning chords wrap themselves gracefully over a skippy two-step. "Clondike", meanwhile, taps into the Full Cycle spirit with a bulbous bassline and drums so rugged they could slice Roni's dreads down to whiskers in two seconds flat. Truly golden.
