 1 in stock $51.85
Cat: 599049 Rel: 22 Feb 16

Rck mounting kit for Prophet 12 module synth
Notes: The Prophet 12 Module itself occupies 4U of rack space. However, when oriented for rack mounting, the input and output cables will protrude into the space above it, so it requires at least 5U of rack space. Dave Smith Instruments recommend using MIDI and audio cables with right angle plugs to minimize the space needed. The kit includes a ventilated 1U rack panel that can be used to fill the space above the Prophet 12 Module.

Kit includes:

1 set of rack ears (left and right)
1 ventilated 1U rack panel
4 black 8-32 1/4'' undercut screws

Dave Smith Instruments DSM01 Eurorack Curtis Filter Module
 Add to cart
 3 in stock $150.18
Cat: 553425 Rel: 22 Dec 14

2/4 pole resonant low-pass analog filter synth module
Notes: Dave Smith's first-ever offering for modular synthesizer users is a big one - the DSM01 Curtis Filter, the very heart and soul of the Dave Smith sound. Featured in everything from Dave's vintage Sequential synths to his recent cutting-edge instruments such as the Prophet 12, the Curtis tone is brash, saturated, and powerful.

The DSM01 is a compact, 8 HP Eurorack-format module. Plug it into your modular system and that classic Curtis sonic signature is instrantly within a patch chord's reach. The filter is a resonant low-pass design that can be switched between -12 dB and -24 dB operation and driven into self-oscillation in -24 dB mode. A Boost switch lets you overdrive the input stage for more aggressive coloration.

In addition to its Curtis filter, the DSM01 provides its own responsive, low-noise VCA with LED CV indicator. There are two separate outputs - one pre-amplifier and the other post-amplifier. This not only gives you added signal routing flexibility, but also frees your system's existing VCAs for other tasks.

If you're a typical modular user, you're always on the lookout for new and interesting components to enhance your system. The DSM01 is an easy and affordable way to give your system a new sonic edge - with the filter that's brought some of the world's most in-demand synths their classic tone and vibe.

 1 in stock $218.80
Cat: 560063 Rel: 09 Feb 15

Eurorack style synth module for sound design
Notes: Dave Smith strikes again with a new offering for modular synthesizer users - the DSM02 Character Module. It's a sound designer's tool kit of five unique digital effects for shaping, twisting, and mangling sound in subtle and not-so-subtle ways. These effects, Girth, Air, Decimate, Hack, and Drive form the Character section of DSI's acclaimed Prophet 12 and Pro 2 synthesizers and contribute to their distinctive tone in a big way.

- "Girth" provides low-frequency harmonic enhancement for adding weight and density.
- "Air" provides high-frequency harmonic enhancement for adding definition and presence.
- "Decimate" performs sample rate reduction for adding lo-fi grunge.
- "Hack" is a bit crusher capable of trashing an otherwise clean signal nearly beyond recognition.
- "Drive" adds overdrive and saturation, with warmth at one end of the knob and harmonic overload at the other.

The DSM02 is a 14 HP Eurorack-format module with interconnections made using 3.5 mm phone jacks. Two independent audio inputs and two independent audio outputs with shared control allow mono or stereo operation. A 24-bit, 96 kHz resolution digital signal path provides uncompromising signal fidelity.

If you're looking to take your modular system into new sonic territory, the DSM02 may be just the ticket. It's a fast and affordable way to inject your system with some serious mojo from two of the world's most in-demand synths.

 4 in stock $870.87
Cat: 464335 Rel: 03 Sep 12

44-note 4-voice analog keyboard synthesizer
Notes: The Mopho x4 is the newest addition to DSI's revered line of analog subtractive synthesizers. Building upon the same award winning voice architecture of the Mopho and Mopho Keyboard, the Mopho x4 boasts huge sound and 4 voice polyphony in an ideally sized, portable, and elegantly designed package. Use it to create huge unison basses, creamy leads, maniacal sequences, and ethereal pads.

Each of the Mopho x4's 4 voices is composed of 2 analog oscillators, 2 sub octave generators, selectable 2- or 4-pole famed Curtis low-pass filter, 3 x 5-stage envelope generators, 4 x LFOs, a re-latchable arpeggiator, and a 16 x 4 step sequencer. Its voice also comes packed with 20 modulation sources and almost 50 destinations.

FM the filter to create metallic bell-like sounds and use the feedback path to add subtle or destructive harmonic content to your sound. The Mopho x4's 100% analog signal path is powerful, monstrous, and sonically dynamic.

The Mopho x4 is intuitive and inviting. Every parameter is fully programmable and editable from the front panel. The controls are logically laid out, lending themselves to quick access so you can tweak knobs without missing a beat.

The x4's full sized 44-note semi-weighted keyboard has aftertouch and velocity sensitivity. The sturdy full sized pitch and mod wheels are freely assignable and sport smooth reliable action.

Expand the Mopho x4's polyphony using it's poly chain port. The Mopho, the Tetra, and the Prophet '08 can all be connected to the x4 to increase its voice count. You can poly chain up to 3 x Tetras with the Mopho x4 to create a 16 voice analog super synth.

Designed and manufactured in San Francisco, the Mopho x4 has the high quality sound and build for which DSI is renowned. From its feature packed analog voices and unmatched sonic versatility to its refined design and engaging interface, you won't find a polyphonic analog synthesizer like this anywhere else.

Dave Smith Instruments Pro 2 Keyboard Synthesizer
 Add to cart
 3 in stock $1,538.62
Cat: 540042 Rel: 03 Nov 14

Mono analog synthesizer with 44 full size velocity sensitive keys with aftertouch
Notes: The Pro 2 is Dave Smith's flagship mono synth, and as Dave himself puts it, his "most powerful mono synth ever." The Pro 2 shares the same exceptional ergonomics and playability as its 12-voice sibling, the Prophet 12, but carves out distinctly different sonic territory with an all-new dual analog filter architecture, a monster step sequencer, superwaves, digital bucket-brigade delay, and a lot more. Nothing else sounds like it and nothing else performs like it. It raises the bar for monosynths and redefines the word "fat."

The Pro 2 is a fusion of classic analog synthesizer design and cutting-edge digital technology. It boasts four high-resolution digital oscillators, plus a sub oscillator. The oscillators produce both classic and complex wave shapes and can frequency and amplitude modulate each other in any operator and modulator configurations you choose for harmonically-rich FM and AM sounds. A set of Character controls adds high and low frequency boost, bit and sample rate reduction, and tape saturation emulation to the Pro 2's sonic palette.

At the heart of the Pro 2's gutsy sound is its all-new dual filter design. Filter 1 is a 4-pole low-pass design inspired by the original Prophet-5 filter. Filter 2 is a state-variable design inspired by the Oberheim SEM and can be continuously varied between low-pass, notch, and high-pass operation, with an optional band-pass mode. The two filters function in either serial or parallel, or anywhere in between. Two of the four oscillators can be routed through Filter 1 with the other two routed through Filter 2 for a broad range of tonal possibilities.

One of the most exciting features of the Pro 2 is its sequencer - possibly the most powerful step sequencer ever designed for a synth. With up to 32 steps and 16 tracks, it provides real-time input, rests, and variable-length sequences. It also syncs to MIDI clock and external audio input. Sequence tracks can control any parameter in the Pro 2's extensive modulation matrix.

The Pro 2's flexible architecture opens the door to not only processing external audio, but also to interfacing with modular synths through its 4 rear-panel control voltage inputs and outputs and a dedicated gate output. Control voltages can be assigned and routed from within the modulation matrix and can run at audio rates for extreme modulation effects. Some of the many parameters that can be sent to the CV outputs include oscillators, LFOs, envelopes, and sequencer tracks, making the Pro 2 a natural choice for the center of your studio or live setup.

The Pro 2's delay section provides three digital delays with pan, and high-pass and low-pass filtering controls. A fourth delay is a digital bucket-brigade delay (BBD) for analog-style effects. There are four loopable five-stage envelope generators, four syncable LFOs with slew and phase offset, a full-featured arpeggiator, and a sixteen slot modulation matrix with dozens of modulation sources and destinations.

The Pro 2 was designed primarily as a super-powerful monosynth, but it's also a true, four-voice paraphonic synth that allows you to control each of its four oscillators individually with their own envelope. This makes playing four-note chords not only possible, but very expressive.
Package all of this power in a three-and-a-half octave, semi-weighted keyboard with velocity and channel aftertouch, add two backlit pitch and mod wheels and two location and pressure sensitive touch sliders, and you've got one of the most feature-rich, awe-inspiring synthesizers ever created.

Tabletop synthesizer module with rack-mount hardware
Notes: The Prophet '08 synthesizer module is a tabletop knobby module with all of the features and controls of the Prophet '08 Keyboard (minus the keyboard, of course) in an even more compact enclosure. With real analog oscillators, famed Curtis low-pass filters, and analog VCAs, the Prophet '08 is capable of reproducing the familiar sounds of its legendary predecessors. But modern features like a greatly expanded modulation matrix and additional modulation sourcesilike three envelopes and 4 LFOs per voiceitake it way beyond the vintage gear and make this a worthy and unique addition to the Prophet family tree.

Features include a gated 16 x 4 step sequencer, arpeggiator, split or stacked key modes with separate stereo outputs per layer, and rack ears for optional rack-mounting. The Prophet '08 module can also be used as an expander to increase the polyphony of another Prophet '08 keyboard or module to 16 voices.

Notes: The Dave Smith Instruments Prophet '08 Pot Edition 8-voice analog synthesizer offers an alternative with 38 of the 52 front panel parameters controlled by pots (potentiometers); rotary encoders are still used for the remainder of the controls.

The Dave Smith Instruments Prophet '08 Pot Edition is exactly the same as the non-pot version. The difference is strictly in the controls themselves. Encoders are endless, they have no minimum or maximum limit. The advantage to that is that when you edit a preset parameter, the change begins at the preset value and increases or decreases, depending upon the direction turned.

Pots typically have about 270- of travel and have definite limits. The advantage to that is that you know, by feel, where the minimum and maximum limits are and you can sweep through the entire value range in less than one full turn.

The Prophet '08 PE features 3 edit modes for the pots: Relative, Passthru, and Jump. In relative mode, the value change is relative to the preset value. In passthru mode, turning the pot has no effect until after the edited value equals the preset value (that is, until the edited value passes through the stored value). Jump mode uses an absolute value based upon the position of the pot when edited; turn a pot and the value jumps immediately from the stored value to the edited value.

Desktop version of the Dave Smith Instruments/Tom Oberheim OB6 polyphonic synthesizer
Notes: Classic Oberheim Sound - Made Portable:
The OB-6 desktop module is just as powerful and easy to use as its counterpart, the OB-6 Keyboard. The module has all of the same controls as the keyboard version and provides the same immediacy and ease of use. As with the OB-6 Keyboard, all parameters are at your fingertips, with full-sized knobs and switches and a comfortable, intuitive layout.

How does it sound? Massive - just like the keyboard, because on the inside, it's exactly the same. The same analog signal path with discrete VCOs and VCFs. The same high-quality digital effects. The same classic Oberheim sound that has been earning raves from musicians around the world.

We've also added a poly chain feature so that any two OB-6s can be paired for twelve-voice polyphony!

Two Legends. One Instrument:
Both the OB-6 desktop module and OB-6 keyboard are a once-in-a-lifetime collaboration between the two most influential designers in poly synth history, Dave Smith and Tom Oberheim. The OB-6 takes the classic bold Tom Oberheim sound - with its true voltage-controlled oscillators, 2-pole filter, and amplifiers - and adds modern enhancements such as studio-quality effects, a polyphonic step sequencer, an arpeggiator, and more. No other modern analog poly synth can boast such a pedigree or such a massive, in-your-face sonic signature.

Vintage SEM Tone:
The OB-6 sound engine is inspired by Tom's original SEM, the core of his acclaimed 4-voice and 8- voice synthesizers. It features two discrete voltage-controlled oscillators (plus sub-oscillator) per voice with continuously variable waveshapes (sawtooth and variable-width pulse, plus a triangle wave on oscillator 2). The classic Oberheim-inspired 2-pole, state-variable, resonant filter provides low-pass, high-pass, band-pass, and notch functionality. Voltage-controlled amplifiers complete the all-analog signal path.

Dual Effects:
The dual effects section provides studio-quality reverbs, delays (standard and BBD), chorus, flangers, and faithful recreations of Tom's original phase shifter and ring modulator. While the effects themselves are digital, with 24-bit, 48 kHz resolution, a true bypass maintains a full analog signal path.

X-Mod and Poly Step Sequencing:
Also present is X-Mod, which expands the tonal palette and makes it easy to create dramatic and unconventional sounds. Modulation sources are filter envelope and oscillator 2, both with bi-polar control. Destinations include oscillator 1 frequency, oscillator 1 shape, oscillator 1 pulse width, filter cutoff, and filter mode. The polyphonic step sequencer allows up to 64 steps and up to 6 notes per step. You can create sequences polyphonically, with rests, and sync to an external MIDI clock. The full-featured arpeggiator can be synced to external MIDI clock as well. Unison mode features configurable voice count (1-6 voices), chord memory, and key modes.

Easy to Program:
The knob-per-function front panel puts virtually all OB-6 functions at your fingertips. Included are 500 permanent factory programs and 500 rewritable user programs. Turning on the Manual button enables live panel mode, in which the sound of the OB-6 switches to its current front panel settings. In this state, what you see is what you hear.

Easy to Play:
This analog powerhouse is packed into a desktop module that's small enough to fit in a backpack. It's an ideal combination of portability and power for the project studio or the gigging musician.
