  2. I Miss You Now
  3. One Last Bite
Review: Balearic bliss.... Guiddo steps up to Beats In Space for the first time, and he's brought Georges Perin along for the ride, too. The title track is so slow, you'll be checking the RPM; confidently sedate and pensive, it's all about Perin's soft falsetto and soaring chorus as Guiddo's chords breeze gentle beneath. "I Miss You Now" comes with a similar introspective narrative but a much more prominent bassline that punctuates a sweet sultry stomp throughout. Finally we hit "Last Bite". Nodding towards the pastures of Tellier, there's an incredibly dreamy pastoral vibe thanks to the piano hook and far-away vocals. Powerful.

Disco/Nu-Disco
  1. Afterlife
  2. Afterlife (Vakula remix)
  3. Afterdub
Review: Recently tipped for greatness by Peaking Lights, you should be fully aware of Secret Circuit by now, having helped establish the Beats In Space label last year as well as releasing a killer album on Emotional Response. Eddie Ruscha Jnr returns to Beats Ib Space here ahead of a new album for Tim Sweeney's label and Afterlife has us purring with anticipation. The track has "instant classic" written all over it from the opening strains of its deep melodic analogue squelch, and though the vocals catch you by surprise they only enhance what is a nugget of Balearic gold. On the flip, the Ukrainian hero that is Vakula proves an inspired choice of remixer, turning the title track into a low-slung dusky house gem, while "Afterdub" rounds out the package, taking the original and floating it upwards on a cloud of hydrogenated synths.

Review: The 15th Anniversary celebrations from Beats In Space have been nothing less than an all out format assault with this triple vinyl edition arriving after a double pack sampler and the full 2 CD mix (surprised Sweeney didn't sneak out a tape version). In truth all versions are pretty damn essential, but the selectors out there will love this edition in particular with many of the highlights from the CD edition present and correct for beating down the discotheque. From the moment Eric Duncan's retouch of Edwin Starr classic "Get Up" buzzes into action, the quality doesn't drop with Azari & III revisiting their "Reckless" era standards on "Party Night" and further highlights offered by BIS Records signees Dukes of Chutney and Sweeney himself on a killer edit of Secret Circuit.

  1. Shoot The Freak (6:40)
  2. Luna Park (6:29)
  3. Garden Of Tears (5:40)
Review: Absent since the release of the wonderful Palmbomen II album last spring, Tim Sweeney's Beats In Space label returns and the man himself is fully involved. Over the years, Sweeney has dabbled in edits under various aliases but has never put his name to original productions but that changes with the unveiling of his T & P project with Phil Lauer. A studio session after the pair played Frankfurt's Robert Johnson appears to have been the impetus for these three tracks which commence in thunderous, festival pleasing fashion with A-side burner "Shoot The Freak". Down under, "Luna Park" can be seen as a more subtle, deeper take on the opener and packs some fine bouncy rim shots. The tempo slows even further on closing cut "Garden Of Tears" which is dominated by those dewy eyed vocal smudges and a very "Sweet Dreams" synth refrain.

Deep House
  1. Kangaroo Ground
  2. Ferntree Gully
Review: Over his last few releases, Australian producer Tornado Wallace has crafted a trademark sound that blends colourful, kaleidoscopic melodies with dreamy chords and an almost Balearic sense of glassy-eyed release. Interestingly, these aural trademarks are played down a little on this follow-up to his 2013 Beats In Space debut. Sure, they can be heard in the picturesque, luscious beauty of flipside "Ferntree Gully", but the title track is an altogether rougher concoction. "Kangaroo Ground" sees the Melbourne man successfully try his hand at acid house, layering twisted 303 lines and occasional cosmic chords over a clanking drum machine rhythm. It's a surprise, but a very impressive one.
