  1. Abacus/Chez Damier - "Closer" (Jorge Caiado Morning dub) (6:57)
  2. James Duncan - "416 Zone Dub" (6:23)
  3. Jacksonville - "Twilight Industries" (7:59)
  4. Satore - "Keep On" (5:31)
Review: Well over two years has passed since the release of Keeping The Legacy, a compilation style EP featuring tracks inspired by "the classic sounds from Chicago, New York and Detroit". This belated follow-up begins with something rather special: a fine Jorge Caiado 'Morning Dub' of lesser known Abacus and Chez Damier hook-up "Closer". While it boasts their usual chunky, groovy bottom-end, the mix also makes great use of a yearning, cyclical electronic melody. Elsewhere, James Duncan delivers the hazy deep house bump of "416 Zone (Dub Mix)", Jacksonville laces dreamy, drifting chords over a killer bassline and heavy percussion on "Twilight Industries", and Satore reaches for the cowbells and Gwen Guthrie vocal samples on the disco-influenced throb of "Keep On".

Review: Essential repress! Tomas Bangalter's stone cold classic Roule 12" Trax On Da Rocks makes a return. The five tracks on offer - "On Da Rocks", "Roule Boule", "What To Do", "Outrun" and "Ventura" - have acquired legendary status, standing as sublime examples of the rough, raw end of the filter-soaked French house sound. Some 17 years since they were first released, these tracks have lost none of their madcap brilliance; if this isn't already a cherished part of your record collection, here's your chance.

Review: First released back in 2005, Kerri Chandler's "Six Pianos" was initially inspired by Steve Reich's timeless, minimalist composition of the same name. The New York producer recognized the dancefloor potential of combining Reich's cyclical motifs and melodic movements with the hypnotic rhythms of house music. This tasty reissue kicks off with Chandler's brilliant original, before showcasing new reworks from Locodice and Stephane Ghenacia. The former's big room-friendly remix utilizes some elements from Chandler's melody-rich original, while offering up a far more rugged and mind-altering rhythm track. Ghenacia, on the other hand, chooses to successfully re-cast the track as a wavy chunk of wide-eyed Balearic deep house.

Review: Oh, Lord! It's a reissue of Wayne Gardiner's "Mellow" and "Love" stormers under his Classic Man label! To be honest, anything made in the 90s that was released on NY's mythical Nervous imprint doesn't really need an introduction but then again, it would be rude not to give one! There are three versions of "Love", each one deeper and sexier than the last. This is some real blueprint house business, bringing forth that unmistakable 'crunch' sound that's so heavily imitated today. Don't forget, there's also "Mellow (ambient mix)", a gorgeous house jacker with one monster bassline for the peak time hours!

  3. Gottasay (12:56)
Review: Nothing but good vibrations: Romanian vibe maestro Cosmjn returns to vinyl-only imprint Subtil with three more warm, focused, timeless tech grooves. Title track "Vibr8" takes us back 20 years where the lines between genres were barely visible as an elastic analogue bassline pings around linear drums with unhurried momentum. "Bottle" flips for a deeper housier groove with a gradually developing shuffle that wouldn't have gone amiss on MFF 10 years ago. Finally "Gottasay" takes us deeper again with a lush 12 minute chamber piece that's soft in build but mighty in pay-off thanks to a focused groove and deft use of white noise as a melodic texture. Gr8 m8, let's vibr8.

Review: Die Wilde Jagd are Sebastian Lee Philip. Ralf Beck is musician and producer from Dusseldorf. He has released several albums as part of the duo Nalin & Kane, as well as under the name Unit 4. He collects old synthesizers and effect pedals and has worked with Karl Bartos. In his studio Uhrwald Orange, he has recorded music by Propaganda, Kreidler, Black Devil Disco and many more. Sebastian Lee Philip is part of the Berlin-based electro-wave duo Noblesse Oblige and composes music for theatre and radio plays. Between 2001 and 2006 he lived in London where he ran the club night 'Caligula' and performed as a DJ. "Geisterfahrer" is cosmic and spacey kraut rock that sees the pair propel you into the stratosphere. British duo Factory Floor's excellent remix strips things back and takes things on a darker and technological turn with this minimal electro epic. On the flip, "Drachenfels" sees Beck and Philip do their thing again: lose yourself in this eight minutes of absolute bliss awash in reverberated drums, delayed guitar riffs and splendid arpeggios.

Review: Berlin's Modus crew return with another widescreen session from affiliates, friends and comrades. The shadowy DXC duo let rip with another up-tempo ode to Detroit with a relentless slightly dubbed out riff. Long-standing German representer Mac-Kee gets a raw Chicago chunk on with "I've Been Tune" while equally enduring master-craftsman Franck Roger provides spiritual healing with his sultry, harmonic Iz & Diz-esque "Ever". Finally London's Maik Yells takes the last leg with the restrained and contemplative, garage-style strutter "Swap". As with the previous editions of the "Beste Freunde" series, it's premium ear candy across the board... And likely to fly just as quickly.

Review: Tech-house's own cockney rebel, East End Dubs, has been busy of late. The master of DJ tools and rhythm-focused box jams kept up a steady stream of releases in 2016, delivering a trio of coloured vinyl treats. His first missive of 2017 comes on psychedelically inclined "splatter" pattern vinyl, but doesn't stray far from his usual musical blueprint. On the A-side you'll find "Swing Riddim", where liquid chords and spacey electronics cluster around an immaculately programmed, bass-heavy tech-house groove. B-side "Lexa Groove" is a slightly deeper and more becalmed affair, even if it does boast a more sizeable bassline and chunkier drums.

Review: Faster, real name Laurentiu Suciu, is one of the fastest rising talents on Romania's sizeable minimal techno scene. This is his second single of 2016, and third in total on the Reure label he set up last year. It's a quietly spacey affair, with intergalactic chord progressions and starry lead lines stretching out over a metronomic, no-nonsense techno groove. There's a little more Motor City influence than you'd find on some of his work, but that's no bad thing. Rhadoo provides the obligatory flipside rework, utilizing a few more minimal techno tropes while ensuring that the drums remain bold, crunchy and snappy, and that the spacey electronics take pride of place in the mix.

Review: Francis Inferno Orchestra, known to his close friends and Griffin James, is one of Melbourne's finest house producers, and this guy is repping Oz hard, alongside the lies of Dro Carey and the Butter Sessions crew. He returns to Superconscious with "Kalamari Desert" and "Harmony" on side A of the plate; the former is a dreamy, broken remnant of a house tune, while the latter chugs forwards with wholesome drum programming and angelic melodies. On the B-side, "Kamakama" produces the first hint of something more moody, a little darker and more evil thanks to those gargling stutter basslines; Butter Sessions resident Sleep D provides the remix action, and comes through with flying colours after an injection of something a little funkier into the mix,

Review: Vancouver Transplant in Berlin Jayda G strikes out on her own after some frequent collaborations with Sex Tags Mania man DJ Fett Burger, this time it's for the great Geography label out of Malmo, Sweden. The label has previous presented DJ Sotofett, Esther Duijin and Giovanni Damico. It's raw and jackin' house of the deeper shade on the wicked "Shake It Down (original)" while the vocal mix up next is a much moodier affair with some seductive femme vocals going to head with the druggy male vox, diving much deeper than the previous version.. On the flip there's more quality on "Feel It (Jayda G & DJ Dog remix)" which goes for a lovely latin vibe with those steel drums in full effect and much funkier while it's at it.

Review: On this EP, Mule Musiq has gathered together a crack team of artists to rework tracks from Lawrence's most recent album, the fine Yoyogi Park. Kettenkarussell serve up two fine reworks of "Illuminated", first heading into deep space, atmospheric techno territory before breaking up the beats on their dreamier, more fragile Yin Mirror version. The headline attraction is arguably Roman Flugel's rework of "Clouds and Arrows", which wraps sparkling synthesizer melodies and cascading piano lines over a bouncy tech-house groove. Arguably best of all, though, is Lake People's version of "Simmer", which fixes bouncy, old school house pianos to a sparkling electro groove.

Review: Following one of his most active years to date - with releases on the likes of Slow Motion, Wake Up! and Barba, Dublin deepsmith Lerosa kickstarts 2017 with another on-point adventure on Idle Hands. As with a lot of Leopoldo's output, the vibe net is cast commendably wide as we kick off with the uptempo slightly Radioactivemanesque "Maryelen" and close down with a stripped back Basic Channel-style linear techno strutter "Subcouture". In between we have the wonderfully dubby disco charmer "Line Bass" and the more mystical, off-beat trip-out "Scruffy". Aces.

Review: Following the release of his acclaimed debut album, In Waves, on ESP Institute, Lord of the Isles man Neil McDonald returns home to Firecracker Recordings. With six tracks to choose from, Parabolas of Neon is almost a mini-album. It boasts a quartet of sublime, mind-soothing ambient cuts, topped and tailed by two more rhythmic moments. Opener "Sunrise 89", a shameless dose of nostalgia built around heavy, bleep techno style sub bass and electronic motifs, offers a perfect balance between dancefloor heaviness and dreamy, saucer-eyed intent. Then there's the small matter of the title track, which is the kind of ultra-deep, ultra-dreamy chugger that you just want to hug at six in the morning.

Review: In the sales notes sent to record stores, Smalleville has described this multi-artist affair as "a club night from start to finish". Certainly, the four tracks are pleasingly varied, moving from the 109 BPM bliss of Makybee Diva's untitled dream-house shuffler, to the energetic acid house/deep house fusion of "Monkeys On My Roof" by L'Amour Fou, a collaborative project whose members include the legendary David 'Move D' Moufang. Elsewhere, Arnaldo delivers a near perfect chunk of Detroit techno inspired deep house hypnotism ("Screaming With A Blocked Nose"), and Chicagoan producer Snad combines sweaty, bumpin' grooves and becalmed synthesizer motifs on the excellent "Excerptz".

Review: Italian legend Enrico Mantini returns, this time for Gua Limited for the Many Years EP. The Pescara native serves up three cuts of trippy deep house that are quite worthy of your attention: this guy has been producing for 25 years under aliases such as Transitive Elements, The Fast Runna and Deep Choice so you're in good hands. Take for instance the tough swing and shuffle of opening groove "Did Wanna Talk" which uses that MPC to its full potential. The deep hypnotism of the title track gets some basic trance induction happening much in the same vein as Baby Ford while "Waves Of Madness" gets back to the stripped back rhythmicity again in great style, beneath a mind altering dialogue dealing in amnesia, electro compulsive therapy and all other kinds of psychiatric delights!

Review: Moby's back catalogue has been reworked rather a lot lately, with Drumcode following the lead of 2DIY4 in releasing a string of contemporary remixes of the Vegan beat-smith's classic productions. This 12" - the second of four the Swedish imprint is releasing - begins with a storming version of "Why Does My Heart Feel So Bad" by Enrico Sanguilano. It makes good use of the original's famous vocal sample, working it into a banging techno track that looks to the riff-heavy world of trance for inspiration. On the flip, the Manic Brothers offer their interpretation of "Go", combining the original's evocative chords and vocal samples with heavy new techno beats.
