  4. Forever (Galcher Lustwerk remix)
Review: Young producer Palms Trax finds himself in an interesting position. Despite previously only releasing one EP - 2013's brilliant Equation, which was given the reissue treatment earlier this year - he's already being talked about in hushed tones in deep house circles. Happily, this second EP is almost as stunning as his first. The title track is particularly delicious, with jaunty, wide-eyed electronic melodies tumbling over skittering drum machine beats. The stripped-back "Raw Jam" - all vintage bleeps, thumping beats and rising and falling analogue bass - is arguably even better. The EP's real highlight, though, is a even match between Galcher Lustwerk's typcially sultry remix of "Forever" and "Lost Control", a rush-inducing chunk of thrillingly melodic 808 electro that sounds like a gleefully Balearic take on Drexciya.

Review: Glasgow's Sei A is back on Aus Music, which is no surprise to us as he's truly proven to be one of Will Saul's go to guys for surefire tech house grooves over the last few years. "Space In Your Mind" is the title track from his album released in early 2016 and is an absolutely gorgeous serving of ambient house with rich synth tapestries and Will Sampson's angelic vocals: just made for drifting! A track like this was just begging to be turned into a dark journey track, wasn't it? And who better to perform the job than Life & Death main man DJ Tennis who turns this into a bittersweet anthem that'll no doubt be played on many a rooftop this summer. He also turns in the "DJ Tennis Miami Dub" for those of you less keen on the vocals, keeping them to a minimum and working the suspense factor that bit more.

  3. Amazone (6:54)
Review: The ever-daring and magnificently gregarious Crowdspacer label presents a new collaborative project between Joakim and Meakusma's Bryce Hackford, named under one roof simply as Jhack. "Talk To My Bleep" is a tune that works on many different layers, bringing in elements of everything from house to disco and coldwave, and its main asset lies in pleasing the dancer without pushing them too close to a sub-genre, thus leaving the music with a timeless sort of feel. "Deeply Trilled" is more close to classic, deep Chicago House thanks to its rolling percussion, but the addition of sparse church bells makes it somewhat different from the norm, and "Amazone" builds on the house formula to produce a truly beautiful escapade into the deepest and darkest depths of the jungle. Mighty!

  1. NYNYNY (6:02)
  2. Merce (6:16)
Review: Versatile and Tigersushi icon Joakim Bouaziz usually meanders along housier streams, but his Cray76 alias is reserved for his more rough-edged, techno-leaning productions for the big room. Once again appearing on Tigersushi subsidiary Crowdspacer, the latest Cray76 12" leads with "NYNYNY", a bleepy chunk of sonic dynamite that pounces along aggressively with the help of wavey melodies; "Merce" on the B-side sticks to the pseudo acid techno, but drops in a load of disconcerting radio vocals and a bit of 'dilly-ding dilly-dong' on the bleeps. Fine techno cuts for the mind.

Review: Despite only a few releases, the electronic deep house sound of Vibraphone Records and the production team behind it, had a major impact on the international 1990's dance scene. The original 90's vinyl are now considered precious collectors items. Revitalized by an increasingly new young audience interest, this label has reached a cult status and it has now been re-launched via Juno Records. For the first time in twenty years TTUSR has produced three new exclusive tracks which will be included on this 12" EP entitled Liquid Time.

  4. Ron Trent, Chez Damier - "Now Is The Time" (5:53)
Review: The incorrigible Master Jams has just gone and reissued four of the hottest Chez Damier cuts, originally out on the timeless - and much coveted - Prescription Records out of Chi-Town. The first cut "I Wouldn't" sees Damier team up with Dpac and T FM to produce a bright and sparkly house groove for the Saturday evening crew, followed by the deeper, jazzier, more disco-centric beats and bass banging of "I Remember Dance" featuring Ralph Lawson and Carl Finlow. The magic comes on the flip, however, where Damier teams up with like-minded legend Ron Trent on the glorious "Foot Therapy", and the rolling punch of drums and bass that is "Now Is The Time". Don't even think twice - cop on sight!

Review: Church has been responsible for some fantastic 12" singles of late, delivering killer EPs from rising stars Ishmael, Mall Grab and Wolfey & Project Pablo. Here they change tack, serving up a four-track missive from experienced underground deep house producer DJ Aakmael. He begins with the chunky, bumpin' beats, twinkling melodies and drifting vocal samples of "Beautiphul" [sic], before exploring jazzier, looser pastures on the classic summery deep house flex of "13th Mood". "Bloo Again" blends sweeping strings, Roy Ayers style vibraphone solos and a tactile groove to excellent effect, while closer "Space" smartly works a swinging groove and tasty chords for maximum dancefloor pleasure.

  2. Findin' Time (Mall Grab remix) (6:15)
  3. 1993 (6:52)
  4. All My Dreams (6:05)
Review: Having established themselves as a reliable source of deep and tech-house treats, Axe on Wax has decided to launch a sub-label to cater for "grittier" material. The first missive on Axe Trax comes from previously unheard Sydney duo Sonderr. Their trademark sound is crusty, analogue sounding, and smothered in tape hiss. Even so, there's a drowsy beauty to standout cut "All My Dreams", despite the presence of a booming, sub-heavy bassline and clattering, all-action drum machine beats. The deeper and dreamier "Finding Time" is almost as good, with the duo holding back on the intensity in favour of rich ambient house chords, eyes-closed melody lines, and fizzing, Motor City inspired drums. Mall Grab's remix of the same track is, rather predictably, also rather good.

  4. Break The Silence (Steaward remix) (5:35)
Review: Steaward is a sub-label of Renne-based Rutilance Recordings. The label is said to have been created to offer a different side of label co-founder Dj Steaw. The From The East EP features four functional techno cuts such as the A side's "Lost In Paris", a Berghain ready exercise in aggressive greyscale techno for fans of labels like Modularz or Dystopian. "Break The Silence" is more tunnelling and hypnotic but equally as dark; the kind of track you'd hear Boris playing during one of his marathon closing sets at the said techno Mecca. On the flip, Steaward's remix of "Lost In Paris" takes the track down NYC house territory (sounding like an awesome Kerri Chandler tribute) while his remix of "Break The Silence" keeps it in techno territory, thankfully, retaining the adrenalised peak time qualities but giving it a sleek makeover.

Review: Following hot twelves from Max McFerren, Bryan Kessler and Pedder Mannerfelt, Ultimate Hits has recruited cantankerous house jam maestro Willie Burns to produce its' latest EP. Burns predictably delivers, with jackin' electro/techno opener "Bang The Box" sounding like a ready-made dancefloor banger. "Got To Be" is deeper but no less potent, with soulful vocal snippets riding a bass-heavy groove, while "Checking Heart Rate" sees Burns successfully combine one of his favourite vintage house breakbeats with dreamy pianos and sweaty vocal stabs. Finally, he steps away from the dancefloor with "Where Has The Love Gone", a trippy, late night affair full of rumbling dub bass, soft-touch percussive hits, new age pan pipe melodies and head-in-the-clouds vocal samples.

  4. For Bae (6:27)
Review: Scott Moncrief's quietly confident debut album Columbising has been one of the sleeper hits of 2016, with the Sheffield-based East Midlander serving up an effortlessly soulful set that joins the dots between hip-hop, broken beat, boogie, and U.S deep house. This follow-up EP showcases one of the album's highlights, Dave Aju collaboration "Turn It Out." Aju takes the deliciously loose and live-sounding original - all jumpy clavinet lines, swinging deep house drums and urgent vocals - and turns it into a stripped-back, heavily electronic broken house gem. Elsewhere, Lawrence Guy delivers a wonderfully warm, rich and soulful deep house interpretation of Erik Rico hook-up "Boogie Down", before Moncrief enlists the honeyed-tonsils and impeccable piano playing skills of regular collaborator Pete Simpson, on the jazzy gospel-house deepness of "For Bae".

Review: Future Times' occasional, single-sided 12" singles usually hit the spot, and this effort from the little-known Will DiMaggio is no different. Boasting the kind of spiraling jazz-funk synthesizer work that makes you want to close your eyes and succumb to the vibe, "Fusion (Broadcast Mix)" sounds like the kind of record that should be played at six in the morning, just as the sun is beginning to peep over the horizon. DiMaggio's magical synthesizer work takes centre stage, naturally, but is complimented perfectly by some rubbery slap bass, unfussy drum machine rhythms and just the right amount of blissful chords.

Review: To celebrate Record Store Day 2016, Dance Mania has decided to reissue some classic, hard-to-find material. Here, they offer up a brand new Len Faki edit of Parris Mitchell's "Rubber Jazz Band", which first emerged from Chicago way back in 1994. Faki's rearrangement smartly emphasizes Mitchell's thumping groove, which sits somewhere between classic ghetto-house, and the muscular Chi-town throb of DJ Sneak. Flip for the low-slung, bass-heavy "Computer", which sounds like Kraftwerk after a few nights down The Music Box. It was originally released back in 1993, on an obscure 12" of samples, scratches and DJ tools.
