  4. Satore - "Keep On" (5:31)
Review: Well over two years has passed since the release of Keeping The Legacy, a compilation style EP featuring tracks inspired by "the classic sounds from Chicago, New York and Detroit". This belated follow-up begins with something rather special: a fine Jorge Caiado 'Morning Dub' of lesser known Abacus and Chez Damier hook-up "Closer". While it boasts their usual chunky, groovy bottom-end, the mix also makes great use of a yearning, cyclical electronic melody. Elsewhere, James Duncan delivers the hazy deep house bump of "416 Zone (Dub Mix)", Jacksonville laces dreamy, drifting chords over a killer bassline and heavy percussion on "Twilight Industries", and Satore reaches for the cowbells and Gwen Guthrie vocal samples on the disco-influenced throb of "Keep On".

  1. Slip & Slide (7:37)
  2. Leave Me Alone (4:07)
  3. Analicious (3:48)
Review: In recent times, Adalberto's regular outings on the Addicted label he first graced in 2011 have become more and more sought-after. The fact that the pressings are limited - there are just 200 of these doing the rounds - probably helps, but it's the quality of the music that's always driven demand. He's predictably in fine form here, too, lacing woozy vocal samples and tactile riffs over a fizzing, late night deep house beat on superb opener "Slip & Slide". The German producer pushes things up a notch or two further on the Detroit techno-meets-foreboding deep house number "Leave Me Alone", before ripping his shirt off on the muscular, Dance Mania inspired techno madness of "Analicious".

  3. Drifting Away (6:04)
Review: The perennially-search-engine-unfriendly Bristol beatman Admin makes his Boogie Cafe debut with this trio of beautifully loose jazz-tinted grooves. Both "Flute Loops" and "Drifting Away" err more on the house side of the spectrum with relaxed, lo-fi drums and humming pads and harmonics that you'd expect to find on Kompakt or perhaps Drumpoet. For an even freer funk sensation jump on "No Problemo". A sprightly jazz breakbeat funk chunklet, if you're aware of Farina's Mushroom Jazz series then you'll be all over this. File in your 'to play' tray.

  1. Admin - "Flute Loops" (DJ Nature remix) (5:46)
  2. Chezz - "Bossa" (Admin remix) (5:13)
Review: More from Bristol-based party-starters Boogie Cafe, whose recent releases have impressively straddled the fine line between tooled-up re-edits and all-original productions. On the A-side, they've persuaded New York-based Bristolian DJ Nature to remix current Bristol resident Admin. The man formerly known as DJ Milo does a terrific job, too, offering up a trippy chunk of loose, breakeat-driven, deep house disco that boasts serious amounts of energy. On the reverse, Admin remixes Chezz's "Bossa", wrapping spacey synthesizer motifs and a killer synth bassline around a superbly fluid and crispy broken-house groove. It's a seriously soulful interpretation, and arguably the stronger of the two tracks.

Review: The enigmatic Alex Agore returns! The Berlin based producer and co head of No Matter What (with Scot James Johnston) and Closer To Truth (with Brit David Nicol) serves up some more of his timeless classic house jams here on Pocket Money: an independent label based out of Manchester that's dedicated to releasing modern underground house music with rhythm and soul, influenced by New York, Detroit and Chicago. This follows up a great release by Polish producer Soul Habitat. On the A side it's all about the raw NYC basement vibe of "A-Dubz #3" taking you all the way back to the glory days of The Red Zone. On the flip, the uplifting garage sounds of "A-Dubz #7" are reminiscent of classic Junior Boys Own while the thumpin' "A-Dubz #9" has that undeniably Kerri Chandler vibe happening. Tip!

  3. Vista (10:31)
Review: Since making his debut back in 2015, J. Albert (real name Jiovanni Nadal) has gleefully drifted between labels, making appearances on 1080p, Cult Trip and Black Opal along the way. Given this track record, it's perhaps unsurprising that Hypercolour have snapped up this on-point three-tracker. There's much to admire throughout, from the punchy, broken house rhythms, lilting deep house chords, hardcore style breakbeat fills and eyes-closed vocal samples of "Don't Hide It", to the Derrick Carter-goes-bleep analogue funk of closer "Vista". Sandwiched in between you'll find the superb "Xtra Sauce", an early Basement Jaxx style fusion of crunchy, U.S garage-influenced beats, fizzing chords and warehouse-friendly late night aesthetics.

  5. Lakeview Slang (The mix) (3:57)
Review: Fresh off that awesome Unit 2 reissue of Happy Recordings, Running Back now look to some early works of seminal NYC duo Mateo & Matos under their Alex M. alias: its namesake dedicated to Mateo's late brother. The EP was originally released in 1992 on their Final Cut sub label, which became defunct the same year after around eight releases. On the A side is the deeply sublime and evocative zeitgeist of early 90's house; Big Apple style, on "It Works" and the deeper "Without Thought (Bassline 1)" which is more reminiscent of the Windy City sound actually. On the flip, the funky and stripped back late night groove of "Lakeview Slang (First mix)" is a familiar groove with a mesmerising melody and those dusty swing fuelled rhythms beneath. A time capsule from an important time in the genre's development by house music royalty on this respectful reissue.

  2. Bon Dapp (5:51)
  3. Sunday's Calling (7:31)

Review: Tonbe branches out from his Disco Fruit label to launch Hellcat Tunes with the instant heat of the Trade Off EP. "Ain't Nuthin' To It" is a perfect slice of disco house with all the right ingredients to set the dance alight, and likewise you'd be hard pressed to not start vibing off the dulcet tones of "Bon Dapp". "Sunday's Calling", as the name might suggest, takes a more laconic approach that feeds in a whisper of dub house influence and lots of beautifully filtered guitar. "Trade Off" then amps up the tempo and the horns for a peppy workout that bridges the gap between the lounge and dancefloor perfectly.

Review: The XXX crew are on a mission to celebrate the adventurous and utterly well-informed dance music scene of Amsterdam, and they move to the fourth release on their label with a strong cast of characters that all have something different to say. Alterleo opens up the 12" with the low-throbbing psyche out of "Train To..." before Al Gobi takes over with the aqueous hardware house bubbles of "Rule Of Three". On the B side, Jack Pattern & John Parsley work together to lay down a fierce blend of industrial and disco that will send shivers down your spine. Roger Van Lunteren meanwhile revels in the squelchiest kind of esoteric acid with a new age mystique thrown in for good measure, and then Phil Gerus provides a soothing soliloquy to finish this distinctive record off.

Review: Last spotted burning hearts as Amberflame on Claremont 56, Theomatic boss Andrei Zakharov dusts off his AN-2 controls for three blissful, starlit downbeat instrumentals. "Sigint" slithers and writhes with salubrious, warm soapy levels of liquid funk while "Mint" is a slow-motion jog through a field at sunrise, living up to every fresh and lush connotation its title suggests. "Dusky Downtown" adds a little warped mysticism as the bassline seems to fall over the sludgy breaks and the synths melt in the spaces between. To top it all off, Andrei also throws in a chunkier, slightly more upbeat Amberflame remix, too. Safe travels.

Review: Tyrone Isaac-Stuart on sax, Jabriel Al Suhaimi on guitar, Arnheim on the magic studio touch: "World You Tell Me About You" builds on where Lithuanian producer last left us on his own Barbara imprint. Four tracks of dusty, loosely-hewn cuts ranging from the baggy, woozy pure jazz sentiment "Hold Me" and "Would You Tell Me About You" to the loopy chugging haze of "That He Man Of Hers" by way of the lolloping off-beat "One's Own Permanent Faith", Arnheim's fusion skills continue to explore unchartered territories remain on-point.

Review: Asa Moto duo Oliver Geerts and Gilles Noe impressed with last year's debut EP, the double A-side synth-pop delight that was "Stay Awake/Wanowan Efem". This follow-up for DeeWee, co-produced by label founders (and Soul Wax members) David and Stephen Dewaele, is every bit as impressive, even if its four tracks draw on a much wider palette of influences. Opener "System Naturae" wraps sharp, rave type stabs around a jaunty drum machine groove, deep melody flourishes and warped analogue bass, while "Make Me Prada" is an exercise in alien funk/ambient/synth-pop fusion. On the flip you'll find the bleep-laden analogue house thrust of "Athina", while closer "Syriacid" is a sweaty jog through acid-fired deep house pastures with wayward pop overtones.

Review: The Super Rhythm Trax label launches and who better to inaugurate proceedings than veteran UK producer Mike Ash, whose production collar stretches back to the early '90s under a variety of aliases and projects. Apparently founded with the intention of keeping the original acid house spirit in mind, Super Rhythm Trax get it just right first time around on this three track release which is very much in line with Ash's recent focus on acid and electro. There may be nothing particularly innovative here in terms of execution but Ash definitely knows how to bang his boxes with devastating results, with "Return To Acid" a particularly effective production.

Review: Lemmy Ashton made quite a splash with his first outing on his own TNC label last year, and now he's back to follow up with another salvo of premium heaters geared towards disco-friendly dancers. There's a chunky, looped up quality to "Silver Suitcase" with its insistent bass lick and slamming drums, but there's equal space for soul thanks to the string-loaded sample hook. By way of contrast "Lunaire" fires up the acid flare and heads straight into a babbling brook of 303-related goodness. "Amsterdam" rounds the EP off on a stomp, whipping up the kind of bombastic disco drama that would get Studio 54 moving were it in action today.

Now in conjunction with Record Store Day 2017, we have remastered originals and remixes alike on offer here with this limited version. The master Charles Webster works his magic as always on the truly deep and sublime rework of "Slide It In" which we didn't think could be beat in its original version. "Dark Slide" and "Ghost Spaces" appeared on the album version also, but hearing them here you truly realise just how timeless Iveson music really is.

Review: Last September, we praised Audri's debut EP for Yay, describing the previously unheralded producer's brand of techno as being "loose and heartfelt". On this follow-up for Imprints, he's slightly switched focus, offering up a troi of tracks that tiptoe the fine line between Detroit style techno futurism and melodious deep house. The quiet positivity of his first outing is present throughout, from the undulating synth-bass, hybrid electro-techno drums and intergalactic electronics of opener "Tune", to the enveloping, head-in-the-clouds deep house bliss of closer "Slapbass". In between, you'll find the jauntier, noisier flex of "Hips".

Review: Here's something to get the blood pumping: a fresh Ron Trent remix of the title track from legendary Brazilian jazz-funk outfit Azymuth's most recent album, 2016's "Fenix". The original version is, of course, rather tidy - think darting synths and vocoder lines, dexterous slap-bass and rich, life-affirming chords - but Trent still manages to serve up a seriously good alternative version. He appears to have utilized every bit of individual instrumentation found on the master tapes, offering a subtle deep house/jazz-funk fusion cut full of loose-limbed drumming, intertwined solos and chords that pulse with sun-kissed positivity. It's not a particularly revolutionary remix, but when the musicianship is this good, why change it?

Review: This year marks 10 years since Bastian Volker first donned the Baaz alias. He remains one of deep house's most reliable producers, as this outing on longtime home Office Recordings deftly proves. He begins with the ocean-deep chords, softly spoken electronics and hypnotic groove of "Ween Been", before wrapping heart-aching pianos and drowsy chords around a barely audible drum track on the near-ambient bliss of "Absent". On the flipside you'll find the tech-tinged shuffle of "The Friend", where bolder kicks and snares rise above his liquid dreamscape, and the brilliant ambient electronica of sublime closer "Two (For You)". This is music for sunsets, sunrises and particularly sleepy afternoons.

Review: Swiss label Idealistmusic return with another fine various artists EP: the first since 2015's edition which brought us great stuff from SCSI-9, Pablo Mateo and Idealist himself. For the label's ninth edition, they serve up some tough tribal deep house by fellow Swiss deepness purveyors Baaz of Office Recordings whose contribution "Burgundy" is emotive as ever. Thomas Wood's "Rough Road" is classic deep house informed by a healthy love of classic Chicago sounds by Larry Heard or Chris Gray. On the flip, Christoph Schindling's contribution "Most Important" is a summery and hypnotic groove awash in tape saturation and lo-fi aesthetics; its spanglish melodies working some real magic over its strict electro beat.

Still shining with pure positivity, each cut slaps with jacking soul from the lolloping fretless bass and jaunty pianos of "Groove In You" to the dreamy stutters, bends and glitches of "Que" by way of the staccato bass and punctuated keys of "Stand Alone" and looped vocal hypnosis of "Stressed Out". 22 years deep and still sparkling.

Review: While floors still burn from "Mapping" on Cin Cin earlier this year, "I Can Still See You" sees Gacha return to his more ambient, introspective and eclectic pastures on this extensive show-stopping, sense-blurring five track EP. "River" glistens with gentle ebbs and flows, "Saysea" insists with a lush jazzy break while "Reflection" trembles with just the right tech tendencies without getting too heavy for itself. Elsewhere "Through The Glass" is a straight cinematic trip back to the world he forecast in Two Sunsets while "Advice" closes with a moment of broken beat poetry. As long as Gacha Bakradze can see us, we can hear him. This has to be a good thing.

  4. ISO (DJ Seinfeld remix) (5:52)
Review: Like so many others of late, Baltra seems to be looking to the halcyon days of Italian dream house for inspiration. While it's easy to identify plenty of other influences across the four tracks - the rough-round-the-edges feel of lo-fi analogue house, the undulating TB-303 lines of Chicago acid (see the fuzzy deep house bliss of "Angel"), early British ambient house (the woozy and becalmed "ISO") - it's the grandiose, stretched-out pads and saucer-eyed atmospherics of vintage Italo dreaminess that catches the ear throughout. These are most evident on superb opener "Rendezvous", but can also be heard accompanying the shuffling two-step rhythms and evocative field recordings that mark out DJ Seinfeld's superb remix of "ISO".

  3. Elysium (Paradise dub) (7:42)
Review: With a name like "Elysium", you'd expect this EP from experienced producer Lars Bartkuhn to be blissfully melodious, unashamedly positive and musically expansive. It is, of course, with the original version of the title track expertly joining the dots between humid deep house, head-in-the-clouds jazz and the sun-soaked waviness of the Italian dream house movement. Bartkuhn makes great use of live instrumentation - horns, woodwind instruments and pianos, in particular - which are smothered in tropical field recordings and work in unison with a jaunty house groove. On the flipside you'll find two alternative takes: the effortlessly saucer-eyed, slowly building "Inner Experience" version, and the looser, more live sounding Paradise Dub, where the producer trades saxophone and synthesizer solos. Both are, naturally, superb.

Review: German hipster imprint Kitjen is up to its sixth release following up greta ones by Suzanne Kraft, Hotel Lauer and Shit Robot. In the label themselves this is is 'the tropical cruise ship experience of the summer' brought to you by Amsterdam duo Beesmunt Soundsystem. Watch an umbrella appear in your glass as you play these four neon-lit retro house cuts! Start sending automated out of office replies by simply scanning the cover with your mobile device! Another great quote from the label 'This record's official dress code is 'cannabis farmer at court hearing".
