Review: The somewhat shadowy ATOS pairing of Amoys and Truenoys follow up their 2013 Deep Medi Musik debut with a self titled album that offers a more comprehensive representation of their fractured, soulful take on the nebulous bass music scene. Short for A Taste Of Struggle, the name alone should hint at some of the themes explored lyrically on this fifteen track album, as Amoys and Truenoys expound on a sound that sits somewhere between Massive Attack, Submotion Orchestra and Burial. Whilst there have been plenty of producers utilising sampled vocals within dubstep it's nice to see a duo attempt to adapt the framework to song writing to such atmospherically loaded effect.

Electro Magnetic Destroyer
Propaine
Review: Deep Medi Musik introduce K Man with the machine-gunning Electro Magnetic Destroyer EP. In terms of sub-bass and gnarly musicality it rates up there with recent 12"s from familiar artists like Goth-Trad, Mala, Commodo and Kahn. The title-cut is an industrial-tinged and deep dubstep melee of warbly basslines, growling synths and beefy drums all wrapped up in a sinister rhythm. Then there's "Propaine", the perfect weapon to wake up the neighbours, and even though its groove is broken, it remains fluid and very duurty.

Destroy
Giant Footprints
Everdine
Review: Celebrating his Tempa debut with an expansive four-track banquet, AxH is cooking with nothing but the most authentic heavyweight flavours right here. "Destroy" is instantly timeless as we're stripped back to the bare bass riddim and thundering kicks and claps. "Giant Footprints" is more groove focused as we swagger to the resonant halfstep and craggy, nagging hook. Further on we immerse ourselves in loopy hypnosis on "Everdine" and invest in bitter sweet drama on "I Feel Safe". Something tells us this is only the beginning of a perfect relationship between AxH and Tempa.

Taste Of Future
Julia's Dream
Review: Iranian producer Death Trap surfaces on the Modularfield label with the first installment in a planned trilogy of releases themed around his interpretation of the Future as a mixture of Krautrock and Trap. An intriguing concept and thankfully one that shows a bit more ingenuity than simply tacking on some booming trap drums to a CAN track. If anything both productions here have more in common with classic dubstep, especially the spiralling rhythms and crystalline textures of lead track "Taste of Future". The flip houses "Julia's Dream" which is worthy of a Deep Medi B Side.

Review: Former turntablist DJ Foster has been one of the biggest names in the Italian dubstep scene since the mid 2000s. The timing is clearly right, then for this debut mix album. Mining the deeper end of dubstep - think evocative chords, smooth but deep basslines, skittish rhythms and intoxicated sounds - Bloodstock is a fluid and sensual journey perfect for post-club sit-downs and horizontal listening. Along the way, there are notable tracks from FNC, Occult, J Robinson (the more obviously dub reggae-influenced, Mad Professor-ish "Lions in Croatia") and Konvex, whose sparse but fearlessly rhythmic "The Fight" provides a clear highlight.
