Love You To Life (Digital Mystikz remix)
Review: Almost 35 years after her first record, the UK public's appetite for Grace Jones remains unwavered. The 2008 album Hurricane - her first since 1985 - was rapturously received and here we see a remix package of one of the album's standouts, "Love You to Life". The track gets the South London treatment with a remix from Digital Mystikz, whose first release for two years is typically brilliant, atmospheric, skanking steppa. Southern Fried favourite Cadgedbaby joins Guy Williams for a disco remix under their Paradise 45 alias, while Ivor Guest turns in a dub version and Pitron and Sanna rounds things off nicely.

Let's Talk
Vicodin
Review: Naked Lunch unleash two effortlessly cool, idiosyncratic productions from Instra:mental. "Let's Talk" is an ocean deep, slow burning crossover between house and dubstep. It utilises the warm, clicky tone of the constant kick drum that penetrates the atmospheric soundscape of background chime and tension building static. Echoed melody snatches and pulsing synthesized bass stabs create an ominous sense of foreboding that is heightened by the somewhat unsettling, down-pitched vocals. On the flip, "Vicodin" picks up the tempo as the duo indulge their dubstep palette once more. Keeping their futurist sentiments in hand, they keep the sound unique and fresh with some intricate percussion and beatless structure. Wrapped around thumping sub bass and Detroit styled piano chords, this is an atmospheric stepper that moves with a fluid arrangement for the deepest part of the night.

Drum & Bass / Jungle
Clap Your Hands (original mix)
Clap Your Hands (Dubstep mix)
Review: Always on top of their game, Drumsound (aka producers Andrew Wright and Ben Wigget) team up with long-time collaborator Simon "Bassline" Smith for this epic release on Technique that will no doubt keep them at the top of the D&B tree. Having dropped classics in the past such as "Cold Turkey", "Odyssey" and "Everybody Pump", they still enjoy tons of support from DJ's like Annie Mac and Zane Lowe and "Clap Your Hands" is likely to extend their fanbase even more.
A jump-up mix of beats, churchy piano licks and some fresh gospel vocal samples that break out in the chorus to preach: "Somebody shout Hallelujah, somebody shout amen", it's a barrel load of fun but if D&B's not exactly your thing there are some excellent versions in different styles to get you on board. The House mix for example is perfectly transplanted to a 130bpm tempo and works really well as a quality electro banger. Similarly, the dubstep mix takes it down to a cool half-step and adds a lot of glitchy bass for good measure. The Phetsta mix is the one that the dj's will want to pounce on first though, as it brilliantly switches between D&B and electro mid-song, making it a valuable tool for effortlessly changing between genres during sets. Yet again Drumsound and Bassline come up withe the goods - there's absolutely no way you won't be feeling this tune after just one listen.

Blen
Blen (remix)
The Sound Of Tomorrow
Review: A heavenly collaboration between the legendary musical journeyman Mark Pritchard and Steve Spacek, Africa Hitech is a delicious fusion of grime, dancehall and techno that really glistens with energy and has had fans breathlessly waiting for this first release on Warp. Lead tune "Blen" won't disappoint at all, a heavy old-school grime beat with an uptempo but still laid back vocal, it's an absolute joy. As well as a remix of "Blen" and an instrumental, there's also the more plaintive but still riveting "The Sound of Tomorrow". Well worth the hype, check out why fans are getting in a lather for Africa Hitech.

Review: The Others have become the most released artists on dubstep pioneers, Dub Police since they were signed in 2006. The "Gravity" EP displays their ground trembling sub bass abilities, tight understanding of percussion and skills at creating unique soundscapes across four new tracks that backup their lofty regard from their label.

Art & Cash (SBTRKT remix)
Review: Must-have one-sided white 12" here, with SBTRKT remixing Modeselektor's recent single "Art & Cash". The Berlin duo's influential role as a matchmaker in the now blossoming love affair between dubstep and techno is well documented, and SBTRKT shows his appreciation with a killer remix that boasts a techno/garage/2-step beat that is rinsing dancefloors from Brixton to Berlin at the moment. Would work nicely as an epic end-of-night closer.

Warrior (Sbtrkt remix)
Warrior (Jus Wan remix)
Warrior (Rockwell remix)
Review: A honey-dipped vocalist with an excellent album out at the moment, the sublime Blackmagic, here are three mixes of single "Warrior" to further your enjoyment of Jose James. Sbtrkt turns in the most hectic of the three, keeping the beats buzzing and off-kilter, while Rockwell takes the mono-sylablic vocals and puts a dark tech-step beat underneath it. Jus Wan however keeps things warm and jazzy, keeping the original's piano styles and chopping them up with great effect. Three top mixes that each give off their own unique moods and interpretation, these are certainly worthy of a spin.

Flux Pavilion - "Meathead"
J Sweet - "Bass Abuse"
Review: Out on N-Type's Wheel & Deal label, two futuristic takes on dubstep that really push boundaries and go out on a limb with devastating effect. Flux Pavilion's "Meathead" is a dirty mash-up of filtered distortion and space launch sound effects that juggles rhythms between a slow, almost Skwee-like half-step and an uptempo, synth-laden stomp. J Sweet's "Bass Abuse" is another smart and sophisticated dose of razor sharp snares and some classic sinewave synth sounds.

Nightmare (Mensah remix)
Nightmare (Bassboy remix)
Nightmare (Cotti & Coki remix)
Review: No Hats No Hoods. It's a name that certainly sticks in the mind, playing on irony, dripping with attitude, oozing a self-assured confidence. True to form, this glorious release on what is undoubtedly one of the kings of underground grime labels does just that. Enter Badness feat. Skepta & Lil Nasty, for "Badness" - the 10th release from the imprint. The delectable spooky intro, growling "Nightmaaare" in breathy, ominous tones, sets a precedent for things to come. Its inky blank bassline penetrates the very essence of your being; a scurrilous interplay of spoken word, rumbling bass, jittering synths and hissing breaks prevails. DMZ's Coki and Cotti deliver a decidedly more upbeat remix, full of bouncing, stepping rhythms, before Bristol-based HENCH producer, Mensah, comes up with a dollop of screechy synth-driven dubstep to break things up. Bassboy, in stark contrast, fixes up, looks sharp (to use an overused grime idiom), so that the words are spoken in discerning clarity, with more of a bassline vibe. It's a cracking release all round, though - highly recommended.

The Only Way Up
Everybody Bleeding
The Only Way Up (Ikonika remix)
Everybody Bleeding (Kingdom remix)
Review: Canadian Egyptrixx drops his debut release on Night Slugs. Treading the line between house, techno, dubstep and experimental, "The Only Way Up" features some seriously twangy keys which are pulled and groped in every direction yet somehow emerge as a beautiful melody. "Everybody Bleeding" meanwhile takes the twang factor to new extremes, building a catchy hook from the key stabs - pure genius. On the flip we are treated to a remix from Hyperdub golden girl Ikonika, who transforms the title track into a melodic afterhours jam exuding sweetness and hope, while Brooklyn DJ Kingdom turns "Everybody Bleeding" into a serious dubstep workout with some serious R&B vibes and sub bass.
