Leisure Complex (5:37)
Centuries Later (6:43)
XX (5:33)
All The Fregs (6:31)
Review: Unknown To The Unknown's latest slab of saucer-eyed nostalgia comes from Daze, a producer whose previous excursions have landed on distorted techno imprint Lobster Theremin. Here, he's in full on early '90s revival mode, melding together dreamy chords, spacey melodies and skittish hardcore rhythms on opener "Leisure Complex". Fellow A-side cut "Centuries Later" concentrates on booming sub-bass and energy-packed jungle breaks, while "XX" bounces around impressively on a wave of early Good Looking chords and rock solid, '93 riddims. Finally, he returns to the 4/4 beats he's famous for with "All The Freqs", an early morning romp through acid house pastures.

On The Line (feat Collette Warren & Ben Soundscape - Random Movement remix) (4:30)
Before You Go (feat Dylan Germick - Nymfo remix) (4:57)
Everywhere We Go (feat Soultrain Locomotive - Jamal remix) (4:56)
Review: Remix alert: Bachelors of Science's third album, released last summer, enjoys a selection of carefully commissioned remixes. The perennial Random Movement starts the bus with another signature wriggler. Switching the groove to something wet and slinky, he leaves heaps of space for Collette Warren's distinctive, charismatic vocals to make the impact she intended. Next-up, flying Dutchman Nymfo takes "Before You Go" to deeper destinations, giving it more of a heads-down twist while Jamal does the flip to "Everywhere We Go"; once a sun-kissed skank gem, it's now a Dispatch-style cymbal-splashing croaker destined for the latest of hours.

Black Rose (6:48)
Black Rose (Blawan remix) (5:54)
Review: Here's a pleasing blast from the past: a belated reissue of D&B duo Source Direct's 1996 cut "Black Rose" - an exercise in skittish, slack-tuned jungle rhythms, pitch-black chords and in-your-face drum edits. Issued by Boddika's Nonplus, the fine original is joined by a surprise 21st century rework from techno type Blawan. His version manages to capture the creepy spirit and rhythmic intensity of the original, replacing the duo's classic jungle breaks with a hypnotic, tribal-influenced 4/4 rhythm and adding some suitably foreboding church bells. While hugely different to the source material (sorry), Blawan's version is thoroughly in keeping with the spooky claustrophobia of the original.

Trinity Ville (5:18)
Dead Peak (6:05)
Review: For a man with a prolific reputation, dBridge doesn't release a huge amount of music. Keeping quality control tighter than a Jungle Council secret, when something does eventually elevate beyond dub, it's a guaranteed cracker. It happened with "Average Echo" earlier this year, it's happening again on Loxy's Cylon imprint... "Trinity Ville" is a fantastic tribal roller with all the melody coming from the sub and clever rhythmic overlays. "Dead Peak", meanwhile, takes us down a dangerous halftime tunnel where basses ricochet like slo-mo shrapnel. Both dark. Both deep. Both quintessential dBridge.

Automatik (4:32)
Hydraulic (10:19)
Review: D&B darling Rob Dimension does it again... Both "Automatik" and "Hydraulic" capture both sides of D&B's ever-flipping coin right now. The former tips a slight nod at Rob Swire with its space-aged vocal processing, hookiness and Sub Focus style hook while the latter takes us much deeper into the dance with a brutal techy swing. Serious mechanical mischief both tailored squarely for the biggest crowds.

Gremlinz & Jesta - "The Axe" (6:26)
Gremlinz - "White Dove" (5:26)
Review: Canadian minimalist Gremlinz returns to Paradox with two more lean, mean stepping machines. Teaming up with Jesta for "The Axe", it's an all-out drum frenzy as a classic step break is peppered with thundering hangdrum insistency and chilling pads. "White Dove", meanwhile, takes us back to the source with a wonderfully Headzy detuned synth refrain buried deep beneath a more rolling drum arrangement. Impressive.

Down Time (4:50)
LVRS (5:45)
Review: This one goes out to all you LVRS out there... Need For Mirrors returns to Horizons after his monumental 12" at the start of the year. Once again he's peddling nothing but the finest of well-chiselled grooves. "Wow" steps with the same ice, soul and space of a S.P.Y and Riya cut, all barbed and darkly beautiful. "Down Time" is a snake-like percussive roller that nods to the type of 11 minute epics Krust or Digital used to excel in as its chords gradually takeover the entire groove. Finally "LVRS" spins the minor key disco ball with jazzy house-like textures over a precision step. Classic.

Review: Soul Intent opens the gate to his Lossless castle once again with a beautifully presented triple-track trip into rave heritage. His own "Bad Boy" is all about the loose, jungle scuffing roughage that rolls for days. Acid Lab joins the fray with the Reinforced style edit festival that's so detailed your ears will need spectacles to hear every dice and splice. Finally "2 Bad" sees Soul Intent team up with Ms Tempz for a SUAD-style hardcore homage. Proper.

Review: Hospital boss London Elektricity returned to the release realm last year with this first album in four years... And his best album in well over 10 years. With the originals already doing the damage in all areas, he's passed the stems over to his Med School counterparts and given them the green light to reinterpret as they see fit. Highlights hang, swing and leap from every corner as the likes of Frederic Robinson switches "Seven Days To Live" into a futuristic synth soul frenzy, S.P.Y adds a touch more low-end grit to "Why Are We Here?", Kimyan Law flips "That Thing You Did" into a deep dream with some really interesting drum work and Rawtekk turn "Telefunken Lizard Filter" into a toxic, halftime swamp monster. With versions and VIPs from the likes of Keeno, Etherwood, Bop, Subwave and many more, this is less of a remix album and much more of a straight-up opus.

Review: Budding teenage talent Ownglow has walked his own path, not only trading the hot deserts of Flagstaff, Arizona for San Francisco but also cutting his teeth on a diet of bass music, dubstep and garage before finding his true voice when focussing on the post 170pm strains of jungle and drum and bass. At 19 years old, this Los Angeles-based producer surely ranks among the youngest to get their debut vinyl drop on the mighty Hospital Records but A Walk To Remember offers strong evidence he belongs on the label. This four-track salvo follows his standout contribution to Hospital's Future Sound Of America primer earlier this year and sees Ownglow crafting a uniquely cinematic brand of vocal-flecked rollers that belie his youth. A very impressive debut indeed.

Sunrise Technology (6:51)
Review: Young Belgian Phase makes his Warm Comms debut with three tracks that belie his 20 years on the planet... "A Different Space" takes you back to early Critical cuts thanks to its uptempo step arrangement, two note drone bass and timestretched amens on the fills. "Sunrise Technology" takes a Klute-strength telescope to see further into the cosmos while "Eternal Truth" brings us back to planet earth with a dreamier melodic structure, cymbal-splashing jungle breaks and a sub that bounces harder than a politician's promises. Serious heat for a new producer.

Ubiquity (6:25)
Foundation (6:46)
Review: Long-standing break cronies Nucleus & Paradox return to their own collab label with two textbook drumfunk bangers: "Ubiquity" comes with devilishly dark mid 90s Renegade-style bass plunges and crisp, spaciously spliced and arranged drums. "Foundation", meanwhile, has more of a jazzy twang with its chords. Think Dope Dragon 20 years ago maybe with a dash of 4Hero on the tones... But 100 percent Nucleus & Paradox on the drums. Each and every.

Charge (4:25)
Heist (4:34)
Review: As Segment and Concept Vision commence fresh roars on Eatbrain's digital arm, the vinyl versions of their collaborative debut get the wax justice they deserve. "Charge" is a real bear grizzler of a neuro jam with its turbo funk and bee hive bassline. What's really cool is the sample twist at the end that unravels the entire groove back to its almost carnivalesque roots. "Heist" is much more space-aged stepper with planet-dodging stabs creating staccato drama over a dense, less hyperactive bass foundation. Eatbrain don't do things by halves - neither do Segment and Concept Vision.

Review: While Joker Records never achieved the cult status of early drum & bass labels such as RAM, Philly Blunt and Urban Takeover, the imprint nevertheless played a crucial role in the development of the style. Here, a clutch of productions from label founders The Dream Team gets a 21st century makeover. There's naturally plenty of tried-and-tested floor fillers present, from the bouncy jump-up stylings of Voltage, Malachi and Papa G's rework of "Sweetie", and the duo's own unreleased "96 version" of sweaty, bass-heavy roller "The God Father", to the bombastic jungle breaks, speedy ragga vocals and pulverizing bass of "Stamina (Bladerunner Remix)". Arguably best of all, though, is the throbbing jungle revivalism of Dj Westy's rework of "Lighter".

Review: No one is doing it quite like Coco Bryce at the moment. Rooted in jungle and hardcore but clearly well-read in all aspects, flavours and chapters of drum & bass, just in "Sub Lunar" alone we ride through 20 years of styles all to the gentle slapping of a skippy break. For more of the bleep-and-sub-style anarchy he's usually known for jump on "Pressure Flip" while "Drummer" takes us deep inside the drum kit where every hit, shot and slap comes in from a different space in the spectrum. Finally we hit the tropical charms of "Pina Colada" with its twisted steel drum twangs and metallic harmonics. Refreshing.

Review: Deep tech from the west side: Homemade Weapons and Red Army recover from their Samurai sleep terrors and return on HW's own imprint with four more soundsystem belters. "Coliseum" is a tribal temple of a track with its deep space and Loxy dynamics. "M-Theory" switches the kicks with a playful giddiness that leaves you stumbling over the gaps with no shame. "Osedax" adds a little twisted funk to the party with a paranoid warp that seems to wriggle out of control over rolling hip-shake percussion while "Warpaint" finishes up with a rolling rainforest that's up there with Digital or Nomine's finest.

Review: Ukrainian NickBee makes his EP debut on Noisia's Invisible and has clearly relished the challenge in every way. Conceptually mapping his own war-torn surroundings, the collection is dense in paranoid, isolating details, especially the title track which features foley sounds from the country's civil war itself. Continues to fine tune the signature he's developed on labels such as Dispatch and Citrus; there's a very fine balance of raw power, technical endeavour and hard-hitting musicality - the deep-lab synths on "Glow", the unnerving chords and textures of "Moonshine" and the unhurried sense of drama in "Sounds Of War" are just a few examples. A serious landmark release for NickBee right here.

Review: His second Fresh 86 release this week, Dutch don Coco doesn't do things by half. As with his previous, expect fast track history sessions all within one track as Coco reminds us of the many foundation shades that have got us here today. Both "Esoteric" and "Worm Hole" come on strong like a "Soul In Motion" era Krust - all sprawling and loaded with percussive weight. "My Life" could have easily come from Adam F's earlier work with its bendy synths and belly bumping sub while "Crystal" closes the show on a march darker paranoid trip. Think Nucleus in a bad mood. Sweet dreams.

Review: What a time to be a DBridge fan... First his Cylon release ("Trinity Ville"), then Exit ("Too Late") now this Pleasure District 12". Here we find him traversing the 170 universe frontier teasing the D&B boundaries with extra-curricular elements. "I'm Feeling Cold" skips on a palpitating heartbeat drum as manipulated vocals breathe heavily with the woozy pads. "Zerone" casually swaggers to a mildly jazzy halfbeat while "Evolvent" takes us much deeper down the detuned rabbit hole with woozy, almost seasick effects. Finally, we hit "Simm-Pathy", the most club-focused cut of the pack with its rhythmic riff and slightly more traditional drum arrangement.

Review: Rewind to 2014: Nuage released a golden shore Balearic album that trembled with future wave and tropical echoes. Fast forward to 2016: Four of the album's many highlights are given the D&B treatment they deserve; Blu Mar Ten retain the humanised elements while adding a strong skip to the break while Nuage themselves switch the cascading harmony of "Waterfalls" into a pacier halftime/deep jungle hybrid. Bop follows with a spring microfunk shake up of the Afrobeat while the smoky introversions of "Shining" are flipped into something much more persistent and jazzy by The Levels. Bliss.
