Summer Games (7:38)
Black Cream (6:21)
Finderlohn (4:06)
Review: Having finished releasing 12" samplers for their superb sophomore set See You When You Get There, Session Victim return to the Retreat label they co-run with a trio of brand new tracks. There's a brilliantly dense and humid feel to the undulating bass, cowbell-heavy beats and jaunty melodies of opener "Summer Games", which is as sticky, sweaty and life-affirming as the title suggests. Turn over for "Black Cream", a typically jazzy and percussion-heavy slice of blissful deep house that makes great use of an extended, chord-heavy breakdown. Finally, the German duo explores the downtempo side of their trademark sound with "Finderlohn", whose lazy flamenco guitars, chopped-up beats and thickset chords suggests an attempt to capture a Balearic mood.

Tuccillo & John Dimas - "The Other Side" (Tomoki Tamura edit) (6:33)
Tuccillo & Djebali - "Atuler" (7:06)
Tuccillo & Djebali - "1st Floor" (6:48)
Review: Tomoki Tamura's pure house label Holic Trax is back with more trend setting hits with this excellent new EP from Tuccillo, Djebali & John Dimas. Tuccillo is very much on a roll at the moment - he makes everything from deep house to tech to chill out to disco and does so on labels like Visionquest and 2020 Vision as
well as of course Holic Trax. Established in Ibiza some years ago, the creativity and style of his work has seen him in demand with heavyweights of the musical scene, and as such he is a regular on radio, in clubs around the world and atop many dance
music charts. For this EP, Tuccillo teams up with acclaimed producers John Dimas from Greece and Frenchman Djebali for a total of three tracks, whilst label head Tomoki Tamura also serves up one great edit. Up first is the fresh sounding 'A View From' with John Dimas. Lively and spritely, with groovy bass and energetic drums, this one is a bubbly, charming cut that cannot
fail to make you want to move on the dance floor. The two then team up for 'Live 23' which gets edited by Tamura into a much quicker and slicker, techno leaning effort
with rubbery bass and bleeps as well as some soulful and emotive pads. 'Atuler' feat Djebali then gets back to a more jacking style with firm hits and lots of reverb making for a fat bottomed groove. Some garage percussion adds an irresistible sense of skip to the track and some carefully treated vocals float about
inside it adding yet another fine layer.
Then comes vinyl only bonus '1st Floor,' again with Djebali. This brilliant track is subtle and deep, seductive and filled with soul. As well as being driven forward at an inviting pace, more mysterious voices pan left and right and trap you right at the heart
of the lush atmospheres this pair create.
This is another tasteful EP of no nonsense modern house music that is stuffed with real feeling and plenty of proud production aesthetics.

Into Your Story (original Distinctive vocal mix) (6:53)
Into Your Story (KZREKchampa club dub) (9:29)
Review: It's been a while since we last heard from former Ubiquity Records modern soul starlet Jeremy Ellis. Despite his mid-2000s success, the man with the golden tonsils has been off the radar since 2010. He's sounding as smooth and soulful as ever on this surprise return to action, lending his impeccable tones to a chunk of lilting deep house from Sandman and Riverside. Kai Alice handles remix duties on the A-side, delivering a tactile chunk of heavily electronic deep house with fluid chords and extended solos aplenty. That musical fluidity comes to the fore on the flipside KZREKchampa Club Dub, which peppers a shuffling, glassy-eyed groove with selected snippets of Ellis's brilliant vocal.

Review: Smooth dubby deep house on par with early Agnes or Quarion on offer here from French imprint Steaward and its not bad if we do say so. Curated by DJ Steaw (yeah that's what we thought) it's a pretty anonymous affair throughout its five release long discography thus far, but it's still good enough for us. "Track 1" is testament to the aforementioned aesthetic while "Track 2" the real highlight here, all funky and uplifting in all its lo-fi yet skilfully executed glory. "Track 4" is pretty awesome here too, sounding like Vril from Giegling with its pounding beat and sublime dub chords.

This Loves The Same (6:23)
9828 (6:12)
I Gave You My (5:28)
Night Prescription (7:35)
Review: After a series of mesmerising (and massive) EPs under his more disco orientated YSE Saint Laur'ant moniker - Pressed for Time label head Ant Plate is back in his deep house mode with an EP of YSE goodness

No messing about with the opener 'This Loves the Same' - YSE goes straight in there with some dancefloor heat that has enough quirk to counteract the house swing.

'9 8 2 8' is all badboy garridge wonk with some excellent detuned chords and a catchy, nagging vocal refrain - SWAG.

On the flip, 'I gave you my' is proper deep house (as in it's actually deep) with some trademark YSE chords, blissed out vocal samples and great drum programming.

'Night Prescription' rounds things off with a homage to the classic US house sound. Think Chuggles 'I remember dance' but with an East midlands twist.

No idea what the EP title means, we think Ant's keyboard is faulty

Sunday Transit (dub version) (4:55)
Review: Detroit house hero Kai Alce inaugurates People Of Earth with a stellar EP showcasing his knack for the most soulful of modern, Motor City deep house. First up "Quiet Revenge" has that classic Three Chairs kind of vibe; all soulful deepness that this circle and their extended cast of peers have the knack for, complete with smooth Rhodes piano and dusty rhythms. On the flip "Sunday Transit" is a more straight up deep house jam with female vocals shouting out the lowdown loud and clear; wicked groove on this one. The dub version of this surpasses the vocal for those less keen, but why would you! Great start for a label with serious potential.

State To State (4:27)
Endless World (5:17)
Shades Of Grey (4:27)
Memory Alpha (6:02)
Review: Considered French label D3 Elements continues is carefully curated run with a new EP from Berlin based Italians, Hinode. Featuring four cuts of tough deep house, this sixth EP is another high grade affair that follows on from great efforts by Strong Souls and Brian Harden.

Hinode are Matteo Chisari & Mario Resta, a pair of accomplished DJs and producers that release on and run their own Science Fiction Recordings as well as 0Helena0. They have been active since 2013 and their robust sound has found favour with real heads and underground DJs alike.

Opener 'State to State' is a raw, punchy house track with jazzy chords injecting some real soul into the physical beats. Rasping synths and rainy melodies have a hint of the old school about them and ensure that dance floors will be in raptures. 'Endless World' is more spacious, with a drunken acid sounding bassline roaming beneath a nicely mechanical groove. It's one to make you stomp, and so is b-side opener 'Shades of Grey' with its bombastic, kicking drums, twinkling melodies and lazy chords. Despite being a sweat inducing house banger, plenty of warmth and musicality remains. Lastly, 'Memory Alpha' hurries along with muddled voices, icy hi hats and a flurry of rubbery kicks and squelchy acid stabs. It's beautifully authentic house music that takes subtle cues from the best of Chicago and Detroit and puts a unique Hinode spin on things.

First up is the legend of Amsterdam's house and hip-hop scene, the master Kid Sublime; anyone that follows his work on the Dopeness Galore label will agree this is a fine choice. "Real Hipsters Don't Dance" tees off in a Kenny Dope does b-boy house kind of vibe, whilst "That Ringtone Shit" is on more of a Dog In The Night tip. Down below, both "Get High" and "One For Ibiza" are pure house bliss, the sort of cuts you love to slip in the mix, whilst Kid Sublime heads off into buttery beatdown boogie territory on closing track "S.E.X.X.X. Dance Like You've Been Here (DJ Beloved instrumental) (6:11)
Review: When the sun shines, it's instinctive to reach for more soulful fare. House records rarely come more soulful than this sublime offering from Kai Alice's NDATL Muzik imprint. The esteemed deep house producer does a brilliant job with Miranda Nicole's "Dance Like You've Been Here", putting the singer's sumptuous vocal at the heart of his yearning, sun-baked mix. The drums - particularly the relentless drum machine handclaps - are energetic and upbeat, but brilliantly countered by the kind of lazy, half-stoned chords that seemingly drift from the speakers. DJ Beloved goes a bit more up-tempo on his rework, brilliantly utilizing some upbeat, Latin-tinged beats and subtle clavinet stabs.

Synth Part: Inspiration Sound (7:05)
Jamaican Part: The Sauce (7:18)
Gritty Part: Nitty Gritty (5:13)
Review: Natural Midi has been one of the primary homes to Scott Grooves' tunes, easily the most underrated producer from the Detroit area, and he's back on his own label with four new beauties. Grooves has been churning out exquisite deep house bangers since the 90's, a very specific brand of dance music that incorporates everything from jazz, to disco and funk; his basslines are always warm and soothing, while his percussion is dusty and the synth lines musical. In an age where 'outsider' house rules, his grounded approach is always a breath of fresh air to us. The opener "Finished" is a funky house swinger choc-a-bloc with gorgeous claps and stuttering toms, and "Inspiration Sound" scratches the 4/4 off for a bit of broken trip-hop - a certified winner. On side B, "The Sauce" is moody, spaced-out and offers subtle keys, while "Nitty Gritty" slams out a dicing little percussion with a lo-fi feel. Absolutely terrific.

Review: We're not sure if the crew from Kolour are from Houston or Detroit; perhaps both? What we do know is that they release some funky sure-fire deep house that's guaranteed to rock dancefloors and this is further indication. Shaka is a Swiss fellow known to his mum as Kurt Spichiger. Some of you may know him from early noughties minimal imprints such as Revolver and Morris Audio. On this four tracker he provides some nifty deep house that's worth checking. "Urbanature" is the first track and it's all swirling, feel good nu-disco business. On the flip "Time Is A Trick" is smoother and has those lush arp stabs facing off with a killer 303 lead and the real highlight on here.

Review: Last summer, Ultra Knites Records kicked off a series of "Knite Grooves" EP's. UKR006 sees label owners Sem Marini and Mike Sharon make a reappearance for summer 2015, this time under their "Ultra Knites" pseudonym for the third instalment of the Knite Grooves series. As has come to be expected from the pair- two tracks on the A side which ooze class and deepness, laced with melodic keyboard solos - elements that were once a staple in the Deep House genre but have since bceome scarce during recent years. Flipping over to the B side, the pair welcome fresh talent from across the water in the form of a collaboration between US producer Trevor Vichas and Netherlands based Tommy Largo. There's two mixes here of "Gonna Hold On" both of which capture the essence of real Underground House music and maintain the ethos of Ultra Knites Records.

Review: Given the brilliance of the first Rhythms of the Pacific EP, slipped out some 12 months ago by Vancouver store and party crew-turned record label Pacific Rhythm, hopes are naturally high for this belated follow-up. Happily, it's every bit as magical as its' predecessor. Neo Image kicks things off with "So", a warm, evocative and dreamy blend of broken beat, downtempo and garage influences. He follows this up with the similarly heady "JR East", whose drawn-out ambient chords are accompanies by clattering drum machine hits and tactile electronic melodies. Flip to the B for the typically deep and dusty Vancouver house bliss of Florist's "112712" and the gritty, dubbed out deep house brilliance of D Tiffany's "Orange Crush (Plush Managements Mix)". Like the rest of the EP, it's utterly beguiling.

Laak - "Longest Time" (6:16)
Terrence Pearce - "Stroker" (5:48)
Dudley Strangeways - "Talk Back" (6:51)
Review: The Black Key team return for their third various artist release, compiling tracks from an array of talent. The lead track comes from the SMPL pairing of Iron Curtis & Leaves, who deliver a wonderfully subtle journey through murky pads, shuffling percussion and a sparsely used vocal sample, fitting perfectly into the overall feel of this classy number. Proof once again that these two are at the very top of their game. Sharing the A-side Laak delve into late night territory with haunting layered leads & pads rubbing shoulders seamlessly with understated sub-bass and wonderfully panned hit hats - this really is a thing a beauty. On the flip, Terrence Pearce steps up with a track which changes the mood nicely, increasing the tempo with perfectly worked strings, driving bass and lusciously simple keys, delivering a track of real quality for the floor. Finally, Leftback's own Dudley Strangeways rounds off the EP is his usual style, which cannot be described as anything less than true quality. As ever, Black Key have excelled in delivering a package which ticks all the right boxes - this is a release which will undoubtedly appeal to a diverse range of house music fans who appreciate a rather large nod to the underground. Bravik - "130314" (Fred P reshape) (7:48)
Review: Dept. is a Helsinki based, newly found record label and music collective. Their VA1 contains originals by Dept. regulars, Denzel and Bravik supported with remixes from Satoi and the legendary electronic music pioneer, Fred P.

Denzel's "About Greatness" exhibits classic house vibes infused with a modern approach utilising a rich palette of rhythms, pads and a monologue which guides the listener through the track. Satoi's remix pushes the original towards a technoish form with a more straightforward and darker yet melodic take.

In contrast Bravik's track "130314" is a summerish and monotonic, uptempo stomper which contains a finely refined contrast between the distorted rhythms, sub bass and synth stabs. In the reshape Fred P has traditionally taken the track to a completely new path by tweaking the original elements to an unrecognisable state, creating an atmospheric and funk-esque house track.

Dept. VA1 is an intriguing combination in the best possible way.

Taxi (Francis Inferno Orchestra Dreaming Of A Wonthaggi version) (6:08)
Review: FINA Records presents Terrence Pearce's 'Last Night Lover EP' featuring the return of Francis Inferno Orchestra on the rework.

Having previously released on a number of prominent labels including Futureboogie, Wolf Music, Petfood, Kolor, Dark Energy and Freshmeat, Cape Town based DJ/Producer Terrence Pearce has emerged as a talented and sought after artist and is the latest quality edition to FINA Records' roster. Here 'Last Night Lover EP' offers up a healthy dose of the forward thinking house productions for which Terrence has become renowned; a 3 tracker that demonstrates his impeccable sonic style and production prowess.

The title track sets the tone from the off. The long and drawn out spacey synths transfix whilst the fading in and out of the subdued strings, offset against the low end warble and the foregrounded off beat percussion, give this classy understated cut a deliciously smooth and timeless quality.

'Come On Yah' meanwhile is a warm and effortless disco edged groove, characterized by its infectious low-end throb and clever concoction of playful rhythms, punchy hats, staccato strings and off kilter chords.

Then, out of nowhere 'Taxi' arrives; a wonderfully leftfield amalgamation of horn beeping, door slamming, taxi hollering madness, aggressive techno stabs and a relentless belter of a bass line which drives the contagious rhythm to an unexpected frenetic funk filled break.

Last up and hot off the back of his widely acclaimed debut album 'A New Way of Living', Melbourne's Francis Inferno Orchestra returns to FINA, this time on 'Taxi' remixing duties. After a masterful dose of his signature drum machine rhythms, early rave like samples and rainforest atmospherics FIO softens the original into near obscurity.

FDR003 offers a development from the deep house template on the last EP, this time taking us further into deeper Detroit territories. Mark Hand offers us Drexciyan techno in the form of 'Cold Feet'. Review: There's a delicious simplicity to the concept behind Rawax's Aira series, which involves much-lauded producers creating new tracks entirely using Roland's retro-futurist equipment series of the same name. Given Ron Trent's association with the machines the series was inspired by - TR-909, TB-303 etc. - he was clearly an obvious choice to get involved. As usual, he's conjured up some classically melodious, evocative and emotion-rich material. "Deep In The Stars" sees him in late '80s/early '90s deep house mode, with twittering melodies and ocean-deep pads wrapping themselves around a decidedly tactile groove. Kiko delivers us some straight up dance floor house killers, first track, Bates Dance has infectious strings combined with moody drums & rhythms that are reminiscence of early Point G sounds that came out on Basic Recordings back in the day, Kiko then follows up with a groovy hip shaking track called Camon Yo! which will certainly move any floor.

Remixes come from Cotterell who's previously released under this moniker on Various People Vol.2, the remix keeps that old school garage vibe with deep shuffling drums and moody chords. Review: Well Cut Records return with another deluxe vinyl release with Dubble D presenting under his irrepressable "Moodymanc" monniker. Side A opens with "Comfort Me", a deep and gritty sounding soulful jam, followed by a 're-touch' of "War and Peace", a deep and dirty disco dance floor monster which has done serious damage in the past. Luke Solomun opens side B with his "Love and Death re-make", toughening up the drums and adding some analogue twists to take the energy levels up to the point of frenzy! The record closes with "Hashtag", a no nonsense, tough Chicago inspired groove which plays backdrop to a conversation between Snoop Dog and G Unit about the music game today which we thought said a lot about the state of play in House music today! A "beatapella" is an addition to the digital version of the release for those DJs who want to get more creative with the message!
