Aksijan
Review: Electric Ballroom welcome Thomas Schumacher and A.D.H.S. through their doors for a wicked collab in the mode of big room and progressive techno, with a side-tint of psytrance. Also avowing a Bulgarian folk music influence, ‘Mirazh’ and ‘Aksijan’ command epic dynamic pressurisations by way of gargantuan kick and FM stabs at the acme, and arpy rate-modulated buildups at the nadirs. ‘Aksijan’ is particularly harsh and forceful, owing to the pair’s no-holds-barred approach to production.

The Passion 2024
The Passion (original 1993 version)
Review: Technohead were a married couple of Lee Newman and Michael Wells who also famously recorded under the other names Greater than One (GTO), Tricky Disco, Signs of Chaos and Church of Extacy, They were well known in the late 80s and early 90s for their raw techno and rave tunes that explored every genre in the electronic dance kaleidoscope from Gabber to ambient music, even scoring a UK number one single with the warwormy pop gabba of 'I Want To Be A Hippy'. In 1993, their hardcore hit 'Passion' was a huge success. Now, a little more than 30 years later, German veteran Thomas Schumacher updates the track into another anthem worth checking out. Whichever side you choose, expect this slice of techno history to reign over the dancefloor. An unforgettable tune.

Techno
Off World (6:08)
Hustle (feat Mark Porter) (6:04)
Review: German techno veteran Thomas Schumacher is in no mood to take it easy on this new drop for Electric Ballroom, which turns the rave intensity up to 11. The acid lines coursing through the centre of 'Off World' are gnarly and distorted, while the breakdowns and build-ups are expertly engineered for explosive results on the dancefloor, sirens wailing and kicks thundering. It's a sound which neatly folds old-skool 90s motifs into a sleek modern framework, sure to go off with the harder end of the techno spectrum. 'Hustle' is no slouch either, threading breaks into a thumping 4/4 drive for maximum peak time energy.

Come Closer (5:40)
Renegade (feat Maketech) (5:30)
Review: Thomas Schumacher has been on the scene for decades and somewhat harks back to his early days with this raw 90s techno offering on Germany's Electric Ballroom. The trance vibes are heavy on opener 'Come Closer,' which has synths fired from a laser, wailing female vocals and euphoria chords up top all designed for maximum peak time impact. On the flip is the wall-rattling warehouse techno cut 'Renegade' (feat Maketech) with its shimmering chords hanging in the air above the stomping, forceful techno drums.
