Review: The Rhythm Odyssey (Dean Meredith) is one of the most prolific and versatile producers on the planet with a prodigious career that spans over 20 years. A founding member of Chicken Lips and Bizarre Inc.

The Rhythm Odyssey that's all acidic analog rawness and fuzzy vintage synths.

Review: Dean Meredith and Eric Duncan's production partnership under the name The Rhythm Odyssey & Dr Dunks has proved consistently fruitful since the transatlantic pair were first brought together by Endless Flight back in 2012. Big Fish is their seventh 12" together and their sixth in total for Phil South's Golf Channel label and sees the pair sharing space with some high profile remixers. The original version of "Big Fish" is a booming disco cut dominated by a rather flirtatious clavinet lead and a deep, deep bassline. Sandwiched either side are remixes from Detroit's Marcellus Pittman and the (not so) mystery Golf Channel act Central Executives; the former turns in a trademark deep house refix rife with musicality and skipping drums whilst the latter turn in a killer stripped back revision. Bless you Golf Channel.

Review: Given the production reputations of Eric Duncan and Dean Meredith across the myriad of solo and collaborative projects they've been involved in over the years, the prospect of some joint releases on Phil South's Golf Channel label is one to savour! Some months after the trickling of white label promos, the first of two Dr Dunks and The Rhythm Odyssey 12"s arrives in glorious finished sleeves and the four tracks Instrumental Fantasy are equal to expectations. Meredith's much documented mastery of analogues really comes to the fore on the title track in the shape of a bonkers bassline that leads you on a merry dance all over the place. A shorter 303 laden and heavily jacking revision follows in the shape of "Acid Fantasy" though it's the opening gambit on the B Side that really caught our ear. "La Chiave" is an immense slab of psychedelically infused industrial disco with all manner of tripped out, echo laden FX occurring in the depths of the channels - we could totally see Ron Hardy's eyes lighting up with joy at this gem were he still alive and well today.
