MD 2.3 (12")
Cat: MD 2.3. Rel: 14 Feb 11
  1. Track 1
  2. Track 2
  3. Track 3
  4. Track 4
Review: Fachwerk boss Mike Dehnert never, ever fails to produce the goods. His unerring ability to produce concrete slabs of techno that are both sonically pummelling and captivating is almost with out match in contemporary techno. Here he continues the MD series with four pulsating tracks which serve as an ideal entree for the Dehnert album that is soon to arrive. A momentous kick is teased in and out expertly in "Track 1", before the pulsating thud of "Track 2" is engulfed in a subtle myriad of synth rips and barley there vocal snippets, which contrasts with the more precise drum pattern of "Track 3". The demented demon gargle that awaits you on "Track 4" will leave you fidgeting impatiently with anticipation for the full Dehnert album, due out in March.

Timescale EP (red vinyl 12")
Cat: ECHOCORDCOLOUR 035. Rel: 27 Jun 16
  1. Star Base (5:23)
  2. MD 100 (5:13)
  3. Somewhere (5:40)
Review: Fachwerk main man Mike Dehnert is back on Echocord Colour and this would mark his fifth release for the label with the Timescale EP. The label has clearly given Dehnert the opportunity to experiment with more restrained and dubbier sounds than heard on his other imprints such as MD2 or Colombage. On the A side we've got the steely bare bones jack of "Star Base' and the anthemic raw house of "MD 100" with its hands in the air string melody and relentless thump and shuffle just made to set dancefloors alight this Summer. On the flip is the sinister and aquatic dub techno of "Somewhere" this one absolutely sick with its creepy and flanged vocal samples lurking beneath rusty and minimal drum arrangements and lazily infectious dub chords.

Sky So High

Cat: H&T 01. Rel: 26 Sep 16
  1. SoulPhiction - "Sky So High" (5:52)
  2. Mike Dehnert - "Zumwald" (6:39)
Review: Bang, boom, biff! New label alert from contemporary house maestros Soulphiction and Mike Dehnert, a collaboration which has caught us by surprise and left us trailing by the wayside. Masterful. Hands & Tief is the name of the home to this punchy two-tracker that sees both artists put on their techno mask and offer something a little moodier than their usual output, respectively. "Sky So High" is Soulphiction going for a distorted, industrial approach and it works like a charm; the tune's percussion is raw and mashable in any mix, the bassline ominous and intriguing, and the groove powerful and body-moving. Mike Dehnert's "Zumwald" is more in line with his usual bags of tricks, except that here the lower frequencies are more aligned to the electro dynasty than a classic 'Berlin' approach. Both sleek, effective dance floor bangers recommended for pretty much any DJ wanting to lay down some heat!
