Noth (limited hand-stamped 12")
Cat: BEER 001. Rel: 08 Feb 16
Deep House
  1. HNNY - "Noth" (Kyodai remix) (6:51)
  2. Kyodai - "Vengo Loco" (8:56)
Review: HNNY is Swedish producer Johan Cederberg who has had a prolific output in recent years and has appeared mainly on labels like Local Talk and Omena: so you know what kind of sound he's pushing! He's on the A side with "Noth" remixed by fellow Local Talk mainstays Javier Garayalde Oses and Luis Garayalde Oses aka Berlin's Kyodai. This is dreamy and dusty deep house at its finest. On the flip is is the latin exotica of "Vengo Loco" by Kyodai themselves, a beautiful and tripping percussive house journey through the tribal heartland, in all its spiritual and hypnotic glory.

Cat: MULEMUSIQ 201. Rel: 27 Jun 16
Deep House
  1. Let's Get Away (7:29)
  2. Let's Get Away (dub) (7:12)
Review: Although Kyodai sounds like a producer out of Japan, Javier and Luis Garayalde Oses are Berliners through and through and very much in line with the rest of the excellent Mule Musiq label. Their previous material has come mainly through the equally excellent Freerange label, a slew of releases that has earned them a place on what is perhaps the most credible and reassuring deep house label on the market. "Let's Get Away" is loose and airy, a stunning house voyage with a soulful sensibility and a pop mentality; the dub version on the flip is deeper, more hypnotic and focused primarily on the groove. Lovely stuff right here...

5 Years Of Gruuv EP 3 (limited hand-numbered 12" + poster + sticker)
Cat: GRU5YR 003. Rel: 03 Aug 15
Deep House
  1. Oxia & Yannick Baudino - "Simple Life" (6:59)
  2. A1 Bassline - "Hold" (6:03)
  3. Tuff City Kids - "Taddler" (5:52)
  4. Kyodai - "The Place To Be" (7:04)
Review: Leeds tech house heroes Audiojack celebrate five years of existence of their beloved Gruuv imprint and celebrate proceedings in style. French tech house legend Oxia teams up with Yannick Budino on "Simple Life" putting in a peak time deep house effort with lush chords, a groove with the right amount of shuffle and swing and an ultra-warm bassline. "Hold" by A1 Bassline has tom drums that truly beat you into submission before those hats come crashing in, in a way that'll have hands in the air in no time! The Live At Robert Johnson affiliated duo Tuff City Kids throw in effort you'd expect; catchy as hell hooks of the retro kind on this infectious earworm. "The Place To Be" by Kyodai is thumping 808 drums accompanied by an epic, modulated synth workout that just has to heard to be believed.
