  1. Secret Codes
  2. Kontrolled Madness
  3. Orontius
Review: For the fifth release on her Return To Disorder label, Helena Hauff has turned to Hamburg duo Fallbeil. Known for their trippy, analogue-heavy take on techno and electro, the twosome has previously impressed via appearances on Contort Yourself and New York Haunted. Ultima Ratio is another solid selection, with Fallbeil variously exploring distorted, industrial-influenced techno (the post-apocalyptic paranoia of "Secret Codes"), mind-altering electro-acid (the Cabaret Voltaire-meets-Phuture moodiness of "Kontrolled Madness", and straight-up acid business (the hard-edged TB-303 lines and skittish TR-808 style beats of "Orontius"). All three tracks are blessed with that sparse-but-heavy feel that's quickly becoming the duo's trademark.

Review: Here comes the the Hamburg based duo Fallbeil with two brilliantly aggressive tracks filling each side with mutated acid face melt.

With numerous scary records on Return To Disorder, New York Haunted, and Mannequin, among other labels, these maniacs have been burning a path of over carnage the last two years and this release signals they have no intention of softening up. They aren't going limp. They can go all night in hell, hell with a lower-case H.

Industrial/Noise
  1. Fallbeil - "Brutal Ignorant"
  2. Die Form - "Fear Of The Bloody Night (1985)"
  3. Die Form - "Hurt (1985)"
  4. Slugbug - "Goback"
  5. Die Form - "Fear Of The Bloody Night" (IBM Industrial Strength Dub)
Review: After a strong first release Contort Yourself returns with "Events at the Fatal Party" which comes over more as a description than a title, brimming with a bubbling sense of tension and fear. Hamburg duo Fallbeil kick things off in impressive style with a crunchy acid monster which twists and turns followed by two killer proto-techno cuts from legendary French industrial band Die Form from their 1985 tape Hurt. Here we find ourselves in a unsettling scenario with metallic voices scowling over clanging machines and guitar feedback in an unhinged way. The mysterious Slugbug (L.I.E.S./Russian Torrent Versions) starts the flip with "GOBACK", a creeping acidic beast moving unstoppably forward as a reverberating voice ripples throughout. Any calm is then shattered by IBM a.k.a. Jamal Moss whose remix of Die Form hammers home a tough seven minutes of mangled synths, bubbling acid and thundering drums. A highly recommended, intense journey.

Terminal Operations 003 (12" + insert)
Cat: TO 003. Rel: 01 May 17
Techno
  1. Fallbeil - "Delta Current" (6:20)
  2. Fallbeil - "Heavy Overcast" (8:58)
  3. Ekman - "Nemein" (5:02)
  4. Ekman - "Philopannyx" (7:40)
Review: Berlin residents Kuno and Spaceinvasion have been deploying some sublimely evil cuts on their Terminal Operations label since they kicked the damn project off, and things look like they're taking an even nastier turn thanks to this collaborative release between Fallbeil and Holland's Ekman. The latter has been very active over the last few years, and we particularly liked the man's releases for Will Bankhead's TTT so this feels like the right sort of imprint for the producer to be branching out to next. Fallbeil kicks off the A-side with two devilish electro cuts, steeped in a deep distortion that successfully renders them utterly noxious on the loudspeakers, and ready for some pulverising action on the floor. Over on the flip, Ekman's "Nemein" spews 303-licked acid all over the shop, rounded off by cleverly detuned cowbells and toms, whereas "Philopannyx" strips the distortion back to make room for an eerie, subtly acid jam from the depths of the inferno. Bad.
