Highlights across the deep, widescreen trip include Villalobos's freaky "Gonzo Funk", the planet-leaping jacks of Spacetravel's "No More" and the late night trooping power of International Anything's "When It's Dark". Review: Grant was first brought into the ever-expanding Lobster Theremin family late last year following the release of his rock solid Crank album on label offshoot Mork. Here he graduates to the main label via an EP of spacey analogue house positivity. Opener "Feeling (Vocal Mix)" is our pick, sounding not unlike a dreamier contemporary update of Ernest St Laurent's deep house classic "Clumsy Lobster". That said, there's plenty of treats tucked away elsewhere on the EP, including the thrusting, dub-flecked late night hypnotism of "Values" and the fluttering, analogue-rich sunrise house of closer "No Lights".

Review: Previously on Distant Hawaii, UK producer Tom Harris aka Hidden Spheres appears now on Lobster Theremin with four servings of his soothing, late night house. "It Ain't Easy" is a deep, jazzy and loungey joint, reminiscent of early Atjazz, as is the sexy and evocative "IshOnSax" featuring 'some of the most contagious saxophone ever laid to wax' courtesy of Ishmael. The B-side features the Moodymann-ish "The Feels", a raw house number full of heart warming pads, dusty rhythms and soulful vocals. Closing out the release is the melting pot of swirling sounds, field recordings and playful drum programming on "It's Gonna Last".

Rather than using cheaper inferior acrylic, each one is made from polycarbonate, a very hardwearing plastic used in bullet proof glass, and made to fit your gear as closely as possible. The use of polycarbonate means that thinner material can be used, making for discrete, strong yet attractive protection for your Pioneer units. Indeed, great care is taken to trim each Decksaver to achieve the best fit and still leave cables in place.

Complete with the essential emotive Martin Luther King-adorned sermon, Chuck D's house-proud Jack narrative and Robert Owens deep yearning croons, this is the ultimate collection of versions that rise above the millions of copies and bootlegs and blatant rip-offs this track has endured over the years. Review: Psychemagik love Fleetwood Mac. Their love is so enduring that the dusty fingered editors/DJs/revered record collectors have gone so far as to found Fleetmac Wood, a club night dedicated to the work of Fleetwood, Nicks, McVie and the various other manifestations, where anything goes so long as it's Fleetwood Mac related. Their remix of "Dreams" has been getting playtime at the night - and by other well regarded DJs - and finally makes an appearance on this limited 12". What's immediately noticeable about the Crystal Visions Remix of "Dreams" is how much they add to the track without messing with the original's essence - it's also a lot more inventive than Psychemagik's 2009 edit of "Everywhere" which shows how far they've come in three years. Flip over for a great extension of Juno's favourite Mac moment "Big Love" from AOR Disco's Red Ken.

Sounding so different, so removed and far away from anything else, it changed the game entirely - and created a whole school of imitators in its wake. Now repressed by Hyperdub, this is a rare opportunity to grab it on fresh wax. Even if you have this on other formats in your collection, the dusty weight and chasmic crackles sound so much better on vinyl.

Fast forward to 2016, Speicher 91 for esteemed German imprint Kompakt sees his style develop and mature furthermore particularly on "Swim" a dark journey track whose simplicity and restraint excels marvellously. While on "Machine" things get a bit more ferocious, fusing techno, electro and house impressively with its mix of dark sub-bass, vocoder and rusty vintage drum machines.

Review: First in a three part series by Dutch producer Frits Wentink, presented in a hand stamped picture sleeve. Wentink has been one of The Netherlands' most steady artists since his first release in 2012. As the head honcho of both Will & Ink and Bobby Donny, he is known for pushing quality house music. Starting off with with the neon-lit late night groove of "Theme 01", the slo-mo boogie down groove of "Theme 02" is equally impressive and had us reminiscing of classic Metro Area. On the flip, "Theme 03" is the EP's most straight up moment: this kind of dusty deep house with sexy retro synths and sleek vox samples are right up our street. "Theme 04" is a woozy and disjointed groove, with its broken beats and skittering melodies getting and inventive groove on: that's for sure.

Review: Kon and The Reflex team up on 12" with two neatly contrasting edits of Chaka Khan's premiere lady bomb "Every Woman". Kon plays the lavish extension card, adding extra emphasis on the instrumentation while The Reflex goes for a warmer finish, squaring his focus on the juicy bassline while adding a little cymbal magic to the rhythm. Both authentic and hugely respectful to the original, this is effectively an edit masterclass that we all need to pay attention to.

Discovered by label boss Bradley Zero after being a dedicated regular at 'almost every RS dance since 2016', the South London based multi-instrumentalist makes a serious first impression with this debut EP. Mallard's productions demonstrate, in the words of the label itself 'a keen ear for groove with a level of musicality rarely heard in electronic productions.' The 20 year old has already developed a unique sound palette and prodigious production style set to make him a name we will be sure to hear more of. This EP, at once varied in tone and tempo is held together by a strong sonic identity and an overarching artistic vision. Mallard's first offering to the world via Rhythm Section is one to remember.

Review: In typical Music From Memory fashion, their latest archival release shines a light on one of the UK's lesser-known bands of the early 1980s. The System released a lone single in 1981, followed by a now incredibly rare debut album, Logic, in 1983. Three of the cuts here are taken from that set, including the dreamy, downbeat Balearic-pop opener "Almost Grown" - a wonderfully evocative six minutes, all told - and the far-sighted, spacey, proto-techno shuffler "Vampirella". This EP also includes one previously unreleased track, "Find It In Your Eyes", which was rescued from long-forgotten master tapes during the licensing process.

Review: Bruk bastions, the CoOp collective were one of the brightest, most exciting musical movements in the early to mid 2000s with their barbed, broken soul take on bass music emanating from Plastic People playing a heavy role in the forms of contemporary house music, dubstep and all things in between. Freshly reformed since a Boiler Room comeback in 2015 and loaded with new affiliates, the ensemble, First Word proudly present their first collective EP. Ranging from the jittering soundclash bashment of "Spartan Riddim" to the sensual Bias-like harp heaven of "Can't Hold It" via the technoid stutters of "2nd Intention", this marks the start of a very exciting new chapter for the CoOp crew.

From the iconic throbs of acid to the delirious string hook, the menacing intonation of "ecstasy" to the eerie plastic strings, this is as seminal as a rave track can get. While many out there will no doubt have this jam tucked away on any number of techno compilations or cramped up on one of the original single issues, "Energy Flash" is a track more than worthy of its own luxuriant single-sided release, and in doing such a release so many years on R&S are making a powerful statement.

Review: Boogie badman Leroy Burgess was responsible for some of the greatest disco and electrofunk jams of the early '80s. Even so, few were quite as special as "(You've Got) That Something", a 1981 killer that distilled all that was good about his productions - those distinctive cowbell patterns, life-affirming slap bass, spiraling synths, hard-wired disco guitars and one of his finest vocal performances - in one essential, 11-minute package. As on the original '81 12", it comes backed with the similarly impressive "Dancing Into The Stars", whose melodic bassline is arguably even better than that found on the A-side. If you don't already own a copy of the original pressing, this reissue should be an essential purchase.

Review: Dusty deep house producer K15 has previously impressed via string of fine EPs on Wotnot Music, Sound of Speed, Eglo and Wild Oats. None, though, have been quite as expansive as Speed of Life, a double 12" outing packed to the rafters with high-grade material. There's naturally much to admire throughout, from dreamy opener "Look (Beyond You)" - where jazz pianos spar with Herbie Hancock style jazz-funk synths over a sumptuous groove - and ultra-positive jazz-house wonder "This Life Is All We Have", to the early Floating Points-meets-Chez Damier shuffle of "Movements of Joy" and the toe-tapping, head-nodding bump of sparkling instrumental hip-hop closer "The Speed of Life". Arguably best of all, though, is "Truthfully", a wonderfully evocative chunk of downtempo smokiness co-produced by Kyle Hall.

Presented on heavyweight vinyl with his striking signature artwork, its delivery befits the album's rave reviews on its original arrival. Highlights, in case you haven't heard it yet, are the awe-inspiring switch from fusion to swing on "The Next Step" the album's overall sparing inclusion of vocal that make "The Rhythm Changes" really stand out and sparkle and the attention to detail on the narrative structure on reprise notes such as "Re Run Home". A must-have for any jazz/Brainfeeder fan.

Review: This week Best Italy take their reissue romp of Roman rarities down to the infamous Rimini discotheque Cellophane. Crafted as a tribute to the 80s club, "Gimme Love" is an absolute gem of an Italo record, pitched at the more subtle end of the spectrum without ditching the hallmarks of the style. The bass arpeggio still thrums with purpose and the vocals revel in a bath of vocoder processing, but the camp histrionics are replaced here with a more measured delivery that should go down a storm in all kinds of different sets. As well as the original version on the A, the B-side features the Italian version of the track.

Review: Burnski's debut album DNA dropped on Constant Sound last year, and now the label have called upon a strong cast of characters to do the remix duty on some of the LP's key tracks. Parisian trio Mandar bring a heart-melting tone to "Another Source" without losing their insistent shuffle, while Diego Krause strips things down with a functional broth of minimal minded business. The original mix of "Another Source" gets a fresh outing, and very fine it sounds too. That leaves it to Laura Jones to twist out a hypnotic electro version of "I Like You".

Review: The Awakening is the seventh and final studio album from The Ahmad Jamal trio. It was originally released way back in 1970, and in the years since has become something of a must-have for jazz collectors. Given that finding original vinyl copies is getting increasingly difficult, this reissue is more than welcome. Musically, it's a boisterous and hugely entertaining affair, with Jamal's virtuoso piano playing taking centre stage. With an accompanying drummer and double bass player providing steady, if unspectacular, backing, Jamal tickles the ivories like a man possessed. Along the way, he doffs his cap to a number of then popular jazz styles, remodeling them in his own image.

"Sanctified" has supposedly been a staple of Midland's recent DJ sets and become a real hit, prompting him to release it on ReGraded... and thank goodness for that! Reenergising Donna Summer's classic "Spring Affair" from 1976 into a pumping, flanged and stuttering dancefloor bomb. On the flip we've got "Watchasay" which is a rolling, disco house chugger, using some of the same samples from Homework's 2011 hit "Whipped Cream" along with some killer bongo drums.

Review: Since the Beach Diggin' compilation series launched a few years back, a number of its obscure, Balearic-minded selections have been given full length reissues of their own. We can probably expect a number of the tracks from this brilliant fifth volume to get the same treatment. As usual, the wide-ranging track list is thick with highlights, from the synth-heavy, French language reggae of Raphael Toine's 1986 bubbler "Femmes Pays Douces" (taken from the artist's frustratingly hard to find Ce Ta Ou album) and vibraphone-laden jazz-funk smoothness of Yasuko Agwa's sought-after "L.A Night", to the barely-known brilliance of Andre Maria Tole's Cameroonian gem "Sweet Dole". In other words, it's another essential selection.

  1. Loose Beat (7:25)
Review: Oliver Dollar - real name Oliver Siebert - has always been open to the idea of collaboration, with previous EPs variously featuring hook-ups with Jesse Rose, Jimi Jules and Chuck Daniels, amongst others. For "Loose Boat", a single-sided missive on Osunlade's Yoruba Soul Records imprint, the Berlin-based producer has joined forces with Crazy P main men Jim Barron and Chris Todd. Seemingly built around delay-laden samples from an old Marvin Gaye cut (but don't quote us on that), the track rolls along on a rich bassline and handclap-driven beats, with dreamy pads and impeccable electric piano solos only adding to the groovy, sun-baked feel.

Single voice patchable synthesizer
Notes: The 0-COAST is a single voice patchable synthesizer. Its name reflects the fact that it utilizes techniques from both the Moog and Buchla paradigms (aka "East Coast," and "West Coast," due to their locations), but is loyal to neither and thus implements "no coast synthesis."

While the 0-COAST utilizes classic modular synthesis techniques, it's designed to operate with or without the use of patch cables. The necessary connections have been made from circuit to circuit so it operates as an expressive, musical MonoSynth. Using only the MIDI controller of your choice you could apply new timbres to your existing musical forms!

Using the included Patch Cables you could get more scientific, experimenting with new ways to wire up the circuits. You might even forgo MIDI altogether, disappearing into a cloud of analog FM induced Sidebands and harmonics scattered around a single fundamental drone that has nothing to do with any form of music you've ever known.

Notes: A pocket-sized drum synthesizer and sequencer with parameter locks, individual step re-trig and punch-in effects.

Pocket operators are cleverly designed on a single circuit board. By placing all vital and sensitive components under the LCD display there's no need for an outer case. By saving this cost, high quality components could be used to guarantee the best possible sound and very low power consumption. The space under the display also doubles as a speaker box.

Experience a fresh new way to create music using your thumbs. With its pocket size, its animated graphics, real synthesizer engines, sync, punch-in effects, built-in speaker, alarm clock and impossibly low price, making electronic music has never been this much fun!

Review: Thule are on an unstoppable roll at the moment, both mining the archive and doing a great service to the next generation of techno producers in Iceland. The deep, dubby headspace most readily associated with the label continues in abundance with the emergence of Waage, who under the tutelage of Thule old guard Exos has taken to production like a natural. There's a supremely reduced air about "W1", but the rubbery bassline simply can't be argued with. The dub techno tropes are out in full force on "W2" though, with some sumptuous chords that come on like cracking ice. "W3" then pushes even further out into that heady space where minor key chords can never have enough reverb before the sinister, simmering creep of "W4".

Review: As spring begins to turn to summer, Distant Hawaii is already in full-on sunshine mode. You'll certainly struggle to find a more cheery, sun-kissed and positive house cut than "Turn Your Love Around", the cut that opens this label debut from recent L.P.C debutant Mood J. Based around samples from the well-known 1980s dancefloor jam (we'll not mention the source), it's as colourful a chunk of boogie-fuelled party house as you're likely to find. The smile-inducing positivity doesn't end there, either: check, for example, the Balearic arpeggio lines and warm dream house vibes of "The Arps", the glistening Balearic house tunefulness of "Moonlight Drive" (all rubbery bass, cascading melody lines and life-affirming chord progressions) and the smoky deep house dustiness of "NY Vibration".

Review: Now THIS is the way you soundtrack summer... Bcee's rallied up troops old and new for 16 exclusives (and 11 label classics) on this accomplished catch-all document that represents what his label is all about. The end result is beautiful unmixed collection that ranges from the most starlit groove crusade (GLXY's "Antwerp", Spectrasoul's jazz-speckled twist on LSB's "Rolling Sideways", Need For Mirror's dusky finger clicker "Marina Blue") to slightly heavier soul-shakers (The Invaderz heads-down freak-out "Do Devine", Lenzman's killer take on "The Hurting" and Muffler's soaring, scorching "Dark Flower") Spearhead are spoiling us right about now.

AIAIAI TMA2 DJ Preset Modular Headphones (black)

Professional DJ preset modular headphones with 40mm titanium coated drivers & 3.2m coiled cable with 1/4" adapter
Notes: This configuration is based on the original TMA-1 DJ, which is the preferred choice of a range of acclaimed DJs. Centered sound stage and high isolation.

This preset has been configured with the titanium-coated S02 speaker unit that delivers a punchy and intense sound representation, focusing on bass and low end dynamics. The combination of the durable H02 nylon headband and the E02 on-ear PU leather earpads, which provides high isolation, results in a powerful, sturdy headphone suitable for live performance and electronic/bass heavy music.

Engineered with a 40mm titanium-coated driver to reduce distortion, and designed with an internal vent allowing the middle bass to be more clear and punchy, which is great for picking up the beat. A gradual dip towards the high frequencies prevent listening fatigue.

The Speaker Unit housing is injected moulded from durable ABS material and coated with rubber to give a matte look with a soft feeling. Both plugs feature a cable lock that securely locks the cable in place.

New reinforced injection-moulded headband made from the best engineering nylon grade available. A durable compression moulded silicone headpad gives a better grip and the rugged headband is easy to clean after a long night in the club.

Gold plated plugs ensure optimal connection to your speaker units and the cable locks keeps the cable in place.

Soft on-ear foam cushion covered with PU leather. The thickness of the cushion and the materials used give a closed and intense sound representation. Produces strong bass and low end dynamics.

High isolation. Good for DJing and electronic music. Centred sound stage and high isolation. Height 20 mm. Outer diameter 70mm. Inner diameter 32mm.

Coiled, black, 1.5m thermo plastic cable with soft touch surface. Extends up to 3.2m. Perfect for DJing or small studio use. Comes with 1/4" to 1/8" screw-on adaptor.

Review: A Merle Travis blues standard, as laid down by the one and only BB King in 56. A homage to the coal miner with strong clear lyrics and vibrant horns, the original was one of many breakthrough's BB made in the 50s. It was also futureproofed for Belgium's popcorn sound with a bold brass version that's loaded with so much swing you almost forget its deep deep blues. Records like this are what 45s are made for.

Review: Edinburgh's Stephen Brown has always (and still is) waving the techno flag way up high for the Scottish nation. The man has been on it since the mid 90s, and it's safe to se late him as a veritable veteran by now. This new EP for the excellent Echocord feels like a natural turn of events, especially given how magnificently dubby "Sandtext" feels like. "Wet" tries to offer a bumpier sort of ride thanks to sliding chords and huge slabs of bass, while "Backstroke" goes in with that classic, Sun-kissed dub techno flex which Brown, among others, helped to solidify.
