Review: If you like dark, scuzzy, hypnotic, druggy rock 'n' roll with an extra helping of hallucinogenic FX then Portuguese three piece 10,000 Russos should have crossed your path by now. On the off chance that hasn't happened, let's start by you preparing to ask "where the hell have you guys been?". This is where Mark E. Smith and Neu! meet for a dance off in a pitch black room with only a strobe to guide their moves. Taking its name from "compromising material" used by the KGB for coercion and blackmail, on "Kompromat" the band have managed to genuinely distill that concept into something that's not just listenable, but repeatable. All tracks are delivered with pin-point accuracy, whether that's the hook-bass of post-punk nod "Runnin' Escapin'", spacey opener "It Grows Under", or the rough and ready squeal of distorted guitar reverberations on last hurrah "The Wheel".

Review: Since making his debut as 33.10.3402 11 years ago, Nenad Markovic has built up quite a catalogue of experimental, left-of-centre musical treats, most notably via frequent outings on L.I.E.S and ESP Institute. Here he makes his bow on another label, Third World, in the process providing DJ Evan's imprint with its debut release. First up, he provides a fresh '2022 mix' of the previously compilation-only '1000 Julys', a minimalistic epic where wayward electronics, intoxicating industrial sounds, hazy chords and marimba style melodies rise above a deep, weighty bassline and sparse, shuffling drum machine beats. 'Deep Beneath The Ocean Waves Of Labyrinths and Coral Waves' is similarly informed but warmer and deeper, with melodic motifs that lap like waves, pads that wash over your soul, and beats that bubble and spit attractively.

Review: This is well known and much-loved ambient album amongst those who follow the genre closely, and after various vinyl formats before now, it finally arrives on CD courtesy of Past Inside the Present. The hugely prolific zake - who often releases several albums a year - and 36 really go deep on this one. It is a quietly epic and certainly adventurous journey into outer space where echoing sonic tones and drifting sound effects all melt into one another as electronic melodies arrive and disappear to soothing effect. There is an almost classical architecture to these grandiose tracks which makes it all the more of an absorbing and beautiful listen.

Review: Another 18 chapters "of aural anaesthetics" from 36 and Zake, following up their epic work Stasis Sounds For Long Distance Space Travel Part 1, or "continue their journey through the outer reaches of space in hypersleep" as they'd put it. The album comes on unique solar flare coloured vinyl, and as for its contents, well, they're grainy and immersive, widescreen and cinematic, immediately transporting you out into the farthest reaches of space. Perfect for zoning out of everyday life and enjoying some mindful moments to yourself.

Review: Hot on the hells of the epic work Stasis Sounds For Long Distance Space Travel Part 1 comes the second instalment, seeing 36 and Zake "continue their journey through the outer reaches of space in hypersleep" as they have it. There's a healthy 18 track selection to lose yourself in, as these experts of the sublimely chilled ambient get to work - in a typically gentle fashion, obviously.

Review: A Track has been a big name in the EDM scene for well over a decade now. He is one of those DJs often in the DJ Mag Top 100 poll and plays on the largest stages. He also runs the fFools Gold label and occasionally puts out batches of gritty beats made on his trusty SP1200! This is a second such serving that finds him getting busy on the ol' drum machine, serving up the rawest of the raw cut-ups. These four jams are chunky 2-bit numbers that are fad frill and all about the body rocking beats.

Review: Ado's new album Ado No Utattemita has effectively been crowd-sourced - it features a collection of ten tunes that were all voted for by fans who were told to request their favourites for her to perform, including Vocaloid and J-Pop songs. That approach means the record transcends different eras and covers bits from the Reiwa era as well as pop songs from Showa era. This special Limited Edition version comes with an acrylic stand in the shape of Ado. It is the ultimate collector's piece for Ado fans.

Review: Aesop Rock's most recent studio long player was a superb and interplanetary trip by the name of Spirit World Field Guide. Now it gets released as an instrumental version. Although this artist is heralded for his work as a lyricist, he is also a talented and always evolving producer as this record shows. Here the tunes are a framework for you to explore and use as a roadmap to your own musical adventure. It's a world of emotion and colour that takes you a mile away from the mundanity of everyday life.
